"Ready?" I said tightening my grip around my backpack straps, taking a breath in then exhaling it out, looking forward.

"As I'll ever be. On three. One. Two. Three!" Peggy counted down to the moment we sprinted for the door and out into the pouring rain. You see, Pâtisseries et Boissons was closing in what? 10 minutes? And I had completely forgotten about waiter boy and his keys while I was spending today's Saturday with Pegster. She had convinced me to take a break from schooling and actually take the time to look after myself when I did have essential work to do.

My morning was as per usual. I woke up to shift around on my mattress and uttered a small sigh. I sat up only to have a pillow thrown in my face from above me. I looked to my side to my phone which was lying on the floor next to my lower bunk for some reason and glared at the time. 3:55 am. Perfect. "Sorry Madis-"

"Shut up Hamilton..." James replied in his usual groggy tone. I didn't take offence since it was like a routine I'd gotten used to. He isn't a morning person. Especially if Jefferson is around all night, or when I'm there. I didn't say another word and silently got out of bed to head to the kitchen to make breakfast. Suprise, suprise, Thomas was under the covers with James pressed against his chest cradled in his arms and his hair was crying out in distress. (It was a state.)

My body cringed as I left the room for the kitchen and began to make food. Yes four in the morning is early and it will probably get cold by the time they wake but I'm hungry and sleep never really finds it way to me. I never usually am hungry, the most I eat in the morning is probably a granola. I took out the frying pan, oil and every other ingredients you would need to make pancakes and got to work. I made enough for the three of us because I don't think a granola bar and a glass of milk will suffice for Thomas and James.

Peggy is lucky I love her and I can be just as childish. Otherwise, I'd be sick of Disney by now.

I had snuck out of my dorm room after breakfast being watchful about waking the Sleeping Beasts. Me and Pegleg have these things every Saturday. I'd go to her dorm (because there's no chance of having it in mine) and each week we'd decide what we'd do. One week it's milkshakes, another it's karaoke and another it's Mario Kart. This week is binge watching movies.

Peggy's sisters, Angelica and Eliza don't watch a lot of Disney because they claim it's not targeted at them. Angelica often uses she's too mature as an excuse, which isn't a total lie. However, that doesn't stop me and Peggy from loving it. Speaking of, we're huge Moana fans. I've lost count of the times we've watched it so you can guess we watched that first (sing-a-long version) which was followed by Spider Man: Into the Spiderverse, Wreck It Ralph, Tangled, Aladdin because who doesn't love Genie? And a whole string of them that took us to 7:40 pm.

“How does Genie have all that energy? How much coffee can you get in?” Peggy asked laughing slightly, panting and out of breath. She let her body fall onto the couch. We had just sang and danced along to 'Friend Like Me'. “Who knows?” I replied chuckling a bit and taking a seat too before coming to realisation.

Long story short, I explained my dilemma to Peggy and she insisted she accompy me. Therefore there we were, running like mad people in the pouring rain. It was hammering down on us as if we were umbrellas meant for carrying water. The huge gusts of wind were freezing and didn't help either. I was more or less (less) behind Peggy, I hated running and gym glass overall so my best effort isn't something I waste on running. We finally turned the corner and stumbled into the cafe shop at least 4 minutes till closing.

“Um, we're about to close so.. you guys might want to leave.” the waiter who's keys I had perked his head up when he heard the bell sound its jangles. He said it slowly as if processing why we'd drenched ourselves to come to a place like this. It wasn't even great quality. The boy was clearly tidying the place for closure. I gathered my strength and actual breathing back and walked over to the counter where he stood, Peggy following close behind.  “Are these your-” I started, opening my hand to show him the keys.

“My room keys! Did you steal these?” he swiped them from my palm making me jump a little. “No! I-I found them on the seat when I was going to leave yesterday and came p return them, honestly!” I nodded quickly and fiddled with my wet hoodie sleeves. He studied the keys then looked back at us.

His expression softened. “Well thank you. Do you want a ride home?” he kindly asked. We agreed and he took us to his car. Which we had to run to since the rain hadn't ceased one bit. Hooray! He drove a white BMW which was pristine from all angles. I sat in the back and Peggy called shotgun. “So who's getting dropped off first? Oh, my name's John by the way, John Laurens.” So that's his name, John.

“I'm Peggy Schuylar and he's Alexander Hamilton. Actually we both are, we live at King's College.” Peggy explained while we buckled up. John grinned. “Really? I go to King's, I was heading there just now.” he said.
What are the chances?

><

The journey was smooth and talkative. Even though Peggy did most of the taking since I was still recovering from running and getting soaked. At least, that was the excuse I used. I suppose I was just tired since my words came in stutters that I couldn't process. We arrived back at college and by then the rain had died down for the first time today. Me and Peggy separated at the elevator stop as she went her way to her dorm. My room number is 390 and John's is 396.
What are the odds?

We talked a lot more than in the car and I'd like to say we became friends quite quickly but that's depending on Laurens. We said our goodbyes and I stepped into my dorm room.
Thankfully neither Madison or Jefferson appeared to be in the room so I didn't have to deal with them.

I had two things in mind. Make a date in my diary to go back to that coffee shop and the fact that I did have something to deal with other than two jerks; called a cold.
