Lou Ellen and I were on my way to the stables, where we would get a pegasi to fly me to my destination. "Hades sent a special pegasi on the way to pick you up. It's probably already waiting for you in the stables. Then, before you go, I'll give you the blessing."
"You know all pegasi are afraid of me," I grumble. "And why do you have to do the blessing? I thought that was Hecate's job."
Lou Ellen shrugged. "This pegasus might be different. I heard it's a close relative of Thestrals. As for the blessing, I guess Hecate might be too busy; she is a goddess after all."
I had heard about Thestrals before. Sometimes I saw them roaming around in some parts of the Underworld.
They were only visible to the people who have seen death, which was often for us demigods but probably not for wizards. Thestrals were skeletony and eerie, intelligent and mystical. I always thought of them as graceful and gentle creatures, although they represent Death.
On the way to the stables, Lou Ellen kept on spewing information about the quest, and I tried to focus closely. Unfortunately I kept getting sidetracked because of my ADHD.
"Grimmauld Place 12 . . ." Lou Ellen babbled. ". . . Hidden . . . Order Of The Phoenix . . . Gringotts Banks . . . Hogsmeade . . . Supplies . . . Hogwarts Train . . . Station 9 3/4 . . . Not to kill Harry . . ."
Pretty soon, we arrived at the stables, which smelled like cow manure and hay, as always.
"Your assigned pegasi was hard to be put in its stable, from what I heard," Lou Ellen commented, plugging her nose. "It just wouldn't calm down."
We made our way to the last stable, where the majestic, long, black horse was galopping around madly.
The pegasus itself was skinnier than normal pegasi. Its mane was full and silky, jet black. Its wings were tightly folded, so I couldn't see them clearly, but from what I could make out, they seemed to be huge. The magical horse had a wild crazy look in its eyes, glancing around warily. It was as if the horse was calculating its every possible way to escape.
To explain the pegasi's madness: mix the traits of Clarisse and Reyna, turn that into a horse, make its brain go insane; and boom, there you have it. The pegasi.
But as soon as the magical winged horse and I made eye contact, the blurry crazed look in its eyes softened. It neighed quietly, trotting towards me.
The animal stuck his head out the fence as I took a step back, alarmed.
"Look, it likes you," Lou Ellen laughed at my nervousness. "Don't be shy!"
I cautiously took a step forwards, reaching my hand out and placing it firmly on the pegasi's soft snout.
"Hey, boy," I mumble before turning back to Lou Ellen. "What's his name?"
"It's Lûn," Lou Ellen replied, chuckling to herself.
"Hey, Lûn," I cooed under my breath, and Lûn snorted affectionately.
"Time for your blessing," Lou Ellene exclaimed, dragging me away from Lûn.
"Stay here," she ordered, "And don't move."
"Is it gonna hurt?"
Lou Ellen snorted. "How am I supposed to know?"
I frowned. "But do you think it will hurt?"
She shrugged, her green eyes rolling to the back of her head. "I mean, I'm just transferring information in your head. Why would it hurt?"
I nodded, unsure.
"Ready?" Lou Ellen asked, smirking at my worry.
I scoffed. "Are you?"
