Oasis

The water flicks upon my legs as stern of my paddle board bounces up and down sloshing the greyish green liquid.

Sitting in the center with my legs crossed and pushed through the lake feeling the breeze I had made myself. Smiling upon my parents who sat at the shore, too far to see their faces, but I could tell a part of them were proud.

Taking in a long deep breath, hearing the seagulls squak above me, I paddle a little faster attempting to get closer to see my parent's face.

Starring between the space of myself and parents, I could tell something was wrong. Their faces told me the whole story. I turned around and felt the cold wayer strike across my body.

I coughed out a small bit of water. Pushing myself up and attempting to reach the top of the board. When I finally reach above the water, everything had calmed. The water was flat with small waves bouncing me.

It struck me when I found nobody on the beachside. Nobody on the water. Nobody anywhere. No cars. No voices. Nothing except me.

   Me and my oasis.
