As dinner rolls around, I start getting ready in a nicer outfit. I choose a deep green dress that goes all the way to my feet. It makes my eyes pop out more. I also brush up a bit on my makeup. After all, the Malfoy's are coming over to dinner.
A few minutes later, a hear a knock on the door. My heart races a bit.
'I haven't seen Draco in a few months.'
I put some heels on that will click against our marble floors, and make my way downstairs. I feel my heart racing, 'I can't wait to go to Hogwarts this year. I will be able to be with my godfather, and my best friend for the first time during the school year.'
I reach the top of the stairs, and I see Draco. His pale hair contrasts the theme of the main room. I slowly start walking down the stairs and my heels echo in the room. Which causes the Malfoy's to stop their conversation with Severus, and turn their heads towards me.
Narcissa gasps, "Oh my Alexa! You look stunning!" I see Draco look me up and down. " You have matured a lot within the past few months!" She finishes.
I feel the heat rise to my cheeks. " Thank you, but that dress is drop dead gorgeous!"
She glows at the complement.
" Well, shall we start dinner? I'm not sure about you, but I am famished!" Severus says. We all agree, and so we all follow him into the dining room.
Draco walks over to me, still looking at me, but trying to conceal it. "How does being 11 feel?! Are you excited to get your letter today?"
My thoughts are racing trying to figure out how to respond to him without sounding too excited. Severus has always taught me how to act. Not too loud, not too snarky, not too anything. I am an Avery and I have a reputation on how to act.
"I still feel the same as I did yesterday," I confess, "but today has more excitement."
He nods his head in agreement as we make it too the dining room. I sit on Severus right, as he sits at the head of the table. Draco takes the seat on my right.
Soon after we sit down, our house elf, Ricky, greets us. Ricky soon leaves and right then, two soaring owls come through the door. I about squeal, but I catch myself and just smile. The owl that comes to me is jet black and he holds out his foot.
'This is it. Here is my Hogwarts letter.'
My breath hitches and my heart races as I grab the letter. The thin paper feels like silk in my hands. I open the letter and I stop breathing.
Dear Ms. Avery,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry....
I look up from the letter. I've been accepted. Even after knowing I would be accepted, I still couldn't believe my eyes. I'm going to Hogwarts.
"Lex! We've been accepted! We need to go get our supplies!" Draco practically yells. His words wake me up from my trance.
I look at my godfather, and he looks at me with one of his genuine smiles as we share a thought.
'I'm going to Hogwarts.'
"Let's go get our supplies tomorrow! Does that work with you Lex?" Draco asks.
"Yeah, tomorrow works!" I answer.

Hey guys! I liked writing this chapter even though it's pretty anti-climatic. I just liked writing the shock that would come if I actually got a letter.
See you later,
Your fellow serpent.
