Summer came to an end. Everyone is getting ready for college now. I gently placed the photos of my family into a box and tapped it shut. Last week I did orientation of the college I'm going to and it went okay, lots of new fresh faces. Now it's time to move into my dorm. I share with three other girls. Today I will meet them and hopefully all goes well.
"Honey, I think you are forgetting something." My dad jokingly said while swinging my old stuffed animal around that I had as a baby.
"Dad... really! I'm a little too old for that." I laughed.
"Lacy! You can't leave. Who is going to play Barbies with me." My six year old sister, Beth, cried while tugging on my shirt.
"Beth, I will visit you and we will play barbies all day long." I promised her as I kissed her on the cheek.
"So can I get Lacy's room or something?" My brother Conner asked, folding his arms and raising his eyebrows.
"Conner! That is not necessary." My mother shouted.
I hugged my family goodbye and blew them a kiss as I walked out. It will be weird being on my own now. I quickly grabbed my phone and texted Tyler that I was leaving for college. The college I go to is an hour away so I can still make visits back at home and to see my wonderful boyfriend.
After that long drive I carried my stuff into my room and started to unpack. This very short, blonde haired girl greeted me as I was unpacking.
"Hi, my name is Mikayla, but call me Kayla. And welcome to our dorm." Kayla said holding out her hand waiting for me to shake it.
"Hey, my name is Lacy." I smiled shaking her hand back.
"So... you can have any bunk bed because the other girls are not here yet." Kayla said pointing at the different bunk beds.
I placed my blankets onto the bottom bunk while Kayla was on the top one. I heard the dorm room door click open and I shapely turned my head. This girl with jet black hair and very expensive looking clothes came over and plopped her huge purse on the other available bunk bed.
"Hi. My names Kayla, what is yours?" Kayla tried asking the new mysterious girl.
"Sam." She said smacking her gum annoyingly. "Don't ask me anymore questions." She added rolling her eyes.
The last girl came an hour later and our dorm was finally full. She seemed to be really nice but didn't talk much. Shy maybe. She has brown eyes and red luscious medium length hair. I approached her so I could get to know her.
"My name is Lacy. Whats yours?" I kindly asked.
"My name is Gracie." She quietly spoke.
"I hope we all get along and make college fun." I smiled.
I pulled up my phone and went out of the dorms to give Tyler a call. I missed him so much.
"Hey Tyler. I made it to the dorms and I think it's going well?" I questioned.
"Oh that's good. I really miss you Lace. It's really tough without you here." He sadly said.
"We will do just fine. I can visit you all the time and everything will be okay." I hoped. "But I do have to go because I want to explore the campus a little more to get used to it. I love you Tyler, bye love."
I started to wander around campus and noticed a lounge. I walked into it, this guy approached me. The first thing I saw was how tall he was and the scar on his right arm. He has light brown curly hair, green eyes and looked likable, considering all his friends he walked away from.
"Hey. I haven't seen you before? New?" He spoke in a very deep voice.
"Uh no...no. It's my first year and I'm just looking around. Getting a feel for the campus." I nervously said tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Gotcha. My name is Ethan by the way. You can join my friends and I, We are just hanging out." Ethan smoothly stated.
"No, that's fine. I'm just going to go look around some more." I said eyeing his friends behind him.
"We can give you a tour. It's our second year here so we know a lot of places to show you." Ethan said.
"It's okay, you really don't have to. I'll just go by myself." I replied.
"I mean alright. But I'll see you around. And hey... you didn't give me your name. What is it?" He asked while looking at me up and down.
"Lacy." I stated.
I walked away and headed to the cafeteria. I think that guy was very friendly but, was I really going to have him give me a tour. I should have. Maybe not. I will probably never see him around here again. As I got done giving myself a tour, I went back to the dorms. Class starts in two days so I have more time getting to know my roomies. When I walked in, Kayla pulled me aside.
"I just want you to know that I think Sam is rude as hell." Kayla aggressively shouted, stomping her feet.
"You think?" I sarcastically said while letting out a laugh.
"Step inside the dorm and see what she has done." Kayla said motioning her hands toward the door.
I walked in and seen pink, glitter, lights, a mess, and her taking up the whole room.
"Wow. I think we all have our own sides and you are only allowed to touch yours." I bravely spoke up to her. I'm not going to let her push me around. "Hello?" I said.
"I do what I want. I decorate." She insisted.
I am just too tired to put up a fight with this girl so I sat down in my bed getting ready to go to sleep for the night. My first night away from home. As soon as my head hit the pillow in comes Kayla.
"Tomorrow there's a party. We all gotta go. It's our first college party guys!" Kayla screeched jumping up and down.
I will decide tomorrow but my mind is on giving Tyler a goodnight text. I really miss him.
