It was a peaceful night and everyone in the small town lay soundly asleep. Everyone but Louis.
He was restless. He‘d been struggling with insomnia for quite some time now.The reason?
Nightmares.
They haunted him. Plagued him.
Day after day and night after night. It was unbearable at times.
They kept reminding him of the past. Of how he had left Styles in that God forsaken cave, practically
handing him over to Death himself.
Louis felt nothing but shame and guilt whenever those thoughts resurfaced. And exactly that was happening to him almost every night. And so he lay wide awake. Alone in a small room far, far away from the coast of England, stuck on an island, basically waiting for a miracle to happen. He wanted to see Harry again. Alive if possible.
He wanted to reassure himself that all his nightly hallucinations weren‘t just painful dreams and that Harry had in fact survived, like so many rumors suggested. It had caught Louis‘ attention often enough that Styles would still visit the island and even show up in the pubs every once in a while. At least that's what the town's folk said. He had heard the whispers going around of Harry's new accomplishments.
How much more feared he was. The people shock to their core whenever his name came up in conversation. He had heard of how easy it had become to fuel Harry's anger, adding tiny sparks to his already burning persona. But to Louis it all made sense. Harry was angry. Angry at what had happened back then. Furious even, that he couldn't change the past. Louis knew just too well how Harry felt and he also knew that it had been his fault.
Now, everyone who carried even the slightest bit of sanity with them could call him insane for wanting to see the pirate again, who had managed to make his way up on the 'most wanted' lists in over 30 countries. Secured at the top spot for multiple years in a row. Or that Louis knew Harry would let his anger out on him the very second he would spot him again, but Louis didn't care. Tomlinson damn well knew that he might die if he went to see Harry. But it was worth a try, so he thought.
Everyone else would call it blissful disillusion or straight up foolishness. But Louis was naive enough to think that the town's talk was merely empty words. Nothing but senseless rambling.
Just like last time, when he actually got to know the real Harry Styles. When he noticed how Harry was nothing like the monster people had made him out to be.So Louis decided to leave the cozy bed in the lodgings he had been stying at and instead spent his night wandering around town in an attempt to clear his mind of the guilt. Like he had tried so many times before, for three continues years.
