THIRD PERSON POV
Vernon was cycling through town, delivering his letters. It was a busy day as usual, and he just really wanted to get it done with for today. There was a festival going on and here he was stuck working.
''Hi! Your mail is here." He flashes a tight-lipped smile at a blushing girl who opens the door for him.
"Thank you." She returns the gesture with a warm smile, and accepts the letter, lingering for a little longer than required until Vernon gets awkward and pulls his hand away.
He makes a beeline to the next house in the lane where again he's greeted by another blushing girl at the door.
"Hi. Your mail is here."
"Wow! Thank you Vernon! Keep up the hard work." She winks.
He gives her a beautiful fake smile and cycles away.
It's not like he didn't like the attention. He just knows too well that if it weren't for his face there's no way he'd be getting paid so well. His coworkers made sure he's reminded of it everyday.
He sighs.
"Last house."
He noticed the last letter in his bag was one with a royal seal.
"Now that's unusual?"
Since the next house was in the direction of the festival, he drops his cycle at the post office and walks it to the next house, glancing at the letter.
"I'd make a good month's salary if I sold this damn royal piece of dry wax at the market today. If only I was the one receiving the letter."
It's easy to pawn off small items, like expensive seals.
He notices he's in the noble neighbourhood now. He rings the doorbell after climbing a flight of stairs to the main entrance.
"Big damn house yo."
.
No one.
.
He rings the door again after some moments.
No one.
He can't keep ringing the bell so he sits down.
"Am I gonna be stuck here all evening? I can't just leave a letter at the door or slide it in from under, it wouldn't go under. Especially not one with a royal seal .That would be bad for business."
Just as he was thinking, a girl walks onto the porch and of course, notices him.
As he gets up, his brown curls cascade over with the movement of his head, and she couldn't help but marvel at the interesting ways his hair caught the fading sunlight. She quickly snaps out of her daze and realises he's a postman because he's wearing the uniform and puts two and two together.
"Hi. Your mail is here." He flashes her the same old smile.
"How come she's not fiddling around like the others?"
