Emily in high heels was just about as graceful as a faun on ice skates so it's no wonder she fell into Mason Wyatt's arms, foolishly embarrassing herself in front of everyone; however, it was Mason who found himself caught in her soft brown eyes.

And the world stopped spinning for just a moment.

No, it was not romantic either. But these two strangers were never supposed to have met and the world needed to stop just for a moment to show them a whole different life, an alternative universe full of possibilities. As if no time had passed, the world started spinning again and all was right with the universe. Order and balance had been restored.

"Are you okay," Julia asked reaching out toward the seemingly clumsy girl. "With those heels, you could've broken an ankle." Julia was caring in that way. If a stranger embarrassed themselves in front of her, she would go out of her way to save face with concern rather than humor.

Emily, realizing she was still in Mason's arms, straightened. Her cheeks were an off shade of pink that at first glance would have made it seem like she were embarrassed - but that was only apart of it. Instead of speaking to her, Mason just continued to uncomfortably stare at her. He couldn't explain what he felt.

She was the first to recover. Clearing her throat and adjusting her black and white dress, she looked at said, "I'm fine. Thank you." And before Mason or anyone could say any more, she scurried off.

"Poor girl," Julia sighed, pitying the girl, "She seemed so embarrassed."

Mason cringed but kept silent as he watched Emily move through the crowd. He was frozen to where he stood until he was gently pulled, "What?"

"Come on, don't try to get out of it," She teased, "Let's dance."

"Oh, right," He half-smiled before relenting and following her to the dance floor.

And as expected, he held and danced with his beautiful girlfriend. His discomfort tried to hide in her wild blond hair as they both swayed to the music but the one in his arms felt like a stranger now. She was so content in his arms, but he searched the gymnasium for the strange pair of brown eyes. He found them at the exit, already looking back at him.

Neither of them could look away. There was this heartfelt, penetrating moment between them that no one understood. Neither have ever spoken to each other; they hardly knew each other's name. But if anyone had seen them at that particular moment, they might have thought differently than they normally do. They might have thought the two had something between them. And they might have been right.
