At exactly 5 o'clock in the morning, Merlin dropped the metal dish he had been carrying onto the table, making a loud clatter that shook the sleeping prince to reality, who then groaned and snuggled back into his bedspread, hoping to fall back asleep before Merlin had noticed he was awake. The manservant had other plans, however.

Merlin swung open the heavy curtains that had been blocking the rising sun from inside the young royal's room.

"Wake up, today I get to get rid of you!" Merlin called behind him cheerfully, a smirk on his face.

"That's why you're so cheery, great!" Arthur muttered, sarcastically, as Merlin dragged him out of his comfortably warm bed.

Merlin put Arthur down in his seat, handed him a fork and excused himself to go help Gaius, but then he got interrupted by Arthur, who had now mostly woken up and had taken hold of his arm.

"What is it," Merlin groaned, turning around to face the royal.

"Make me a bath, Merlin. If I'm going out I will at least need a bath to last me the trip," Arthur ordered, motioning to the tub he used for bathing in the corner.

Merlin groaned once more, sliding his feet across the wooden floor over to the tub.

Arthur went behind the curtain to undress himself, and Merlin took this as an opportunity to use a little cheat. He muttered a spell until the temperature was just below boiling, then went to grab Arthur some clothes for the day.

As he was placing clothes on Arthur's bed, he heard a slip from behind him and a splash of water. He quickly turned around to find Arthur clutching his arm, with a position that showed he had fallen in.

"Your a clumsy prat Arthur, I swear on it," Merlin muttered to no one in particular, then pulled Arthur out of the tub, closing his eyes as the prince's towel had fallen off on the landing. He could feel his face boiling up. He was so tempted to peak, but didn't want to get in trouble.

Quickly he threw the bedspread over Arthur, who was gritting his teeth in pain, then went to go get Gaius.

Speed walking down the corridor he was red faced. Suddenly he felt himself bang into someone else, causing them both to fall over.

"Sorry," he apologised quickly, then immediately continued to go get Gaius.

After Gaius had gone to the young prince's room, Merlin went to tell the other members of the round table that Arthur may not be able to join them, sadly. They understood and headed on their way, as to not waste anymore time.

"Idiot," The Prince mumbled to Merlin, as Gaius finished wrapping his arm in a soft bandage.

"Don't use that arm and come for a check up every week, it will take roughly a month to heal," Gaius informed the prince, then left to attend to his duties.

"I need to train the young knights!" Arthur realised, standing up and reaching over for the armour that was lying on the floor from yesterday, Merlin had forgotten to pick it up.

Merlin grasped the future king's (I don't know the storyline, sue me) working wrist and held it before he could reach his metal armour.

"Working will make it heal slower, if you want to get back on your feet quicker you take the next month off," Merlin informed him, a stern expression on his face.

Arthur was surprised at his manservant's actions, usually he showed no interest in the prince's wellbeing, instead brushing his injuries off with a sassy comment or joke. It felt.... nice to know he was concerned...

Arthur, being the arrogant prat he was, would never admit this aloud of course, as much as he couldn't admit that Merlin's touch soothes him and made him flustered. Liking the same gender was illegal across the entire world, after all! At least in the area he lived. The prince reluctantly obeyed Merlin, who then proceeded to release his wrist.

"I can't believe such a small thing has taken me away from my duties!" Arthur said for the millionth time that morning, he was like a broken record player, even though he would not know what that was.

"Its only a month, not the end of the world," Merlin smirked, placing his hand on the royal's shoulder, as he groaned, causing Merlin the grin cheesily.

Arthur subtly smiled, as Merlin went to empty the tub and clean up the puddle of water surrounding it. Still in pain, the young royal could only watch as Merlin did his duties. He was supposed to be travelling to a scared loch (sorry, lake. I only noticed this now! It's Scots^~^) that was said to be capable of helping cure his father of an illness he had obtained.

Frankly, he was glad he got injured! Now he wouldn't have to dash around the castle solving citizen's dilemmas, doing paperwork and much more duties he was taking on instead of his father.

Merlin finished up his duties, plopping down next to Arthur, who was still watching him.

"Well, guess I can't get rid of you," the young warlock chuckled, causing Arthur to give him another smirk.
