Disappointment was the only way to explain what I was feeling. Niall hadn't shown up this morning like he usually does. I've only known him for a little bit but I figured we had developed a kind of routine.

He would wait for me and walk me to my class, making him late I'm sure. He wasn't here this morning and I could only wonder why. Not to mention that unexplainable feeling was here and growing stronger.

Relief flooded my veins when the blonde boy was at our lunch table. He was talking with Harry when his eyes caught mine. For a split second I swore I saw a ghost of happiness in his eyes.

"Where were you this morning? I waited inside for you but I didn't see you come in." I addressed Niall about his absence while I sat next to Liam.

"I'm sorry love, I was running a bit behind." He flashed a smile and continued his plans previous conversation.

I hadn't been paying attention to anything around me, too engrossed in my own thoughts when I felt someone tap my shoulder. I looked up to see Niall now stating next to me. "Oh I'm sorry, what's up?"

"Its time to leave, I was going to walk you to your last class." He reached down to grab my tray to take to the trash bin.

"You seem down, are you okay?" He seemed a bit surprised like he hadn't thought I'd notice, even though it was clearly written on his face.

"I'm okay, its just my brother Greg has plans for me this weekend that I don't want to do." He spoke as he weaves through a crowd of under-dressed freshman girls.

"Have you tried asking him to not make you go?" I wasn't sure what his plans were but I figured it was something to do with why he was here in town.

"I have to go, its important to him and for...other people I care about." He had a look in his eyes suggesting internal conflict.

I was positive I wouldn't help him solve this issue, mostly because he wouldn't tell me what it is. So instead I offered up a reward.

"Well maybe after your plans are over, we can hang out?" His bright smile returned just in time for us to make it to my class.

"That would be lovely." He hugged me goodbye, made promises of future plans, and stalked off to his class.

When I walked in to class I couldn't shake the feeling of impending danger. Something was going to happen what that something is, I couldn't tell you.

My last class seemed to drag on forever as I awaited the bell releasing us from my teachers' torturously boring lesson.

When I returned to the house with the rest of the boys Des was waiting for us.

"Alright I have good and bad news." A collective chime of 'go on' and 'what is it' echoed throughout the group.

"Louis surgery went well and his recovery is going smoothly so far. In order to heal properly, though, he will have to be bed ridden. This might take a few days, or a few weeks. Only time will tell."

I was glad, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't help the feeling of worry coursing through me at the possibility of the long a recovery time. I needed that strong and sassy Louis figure in my daily routine.

I was fully prepared to sprint the distance between the front door and the room he was currently recovering in when a hand fell on my shoulder.

"Izz we have practice today." Liam reminded me, taking my hand in a comforting way. A look of something brewing behind his eyes, I knew full well I probably wouldn't like it.

"Look we'll do some fight training and then you can go visit him." His deal was fair so begrudgingly I made my way to the stairs, but before I could make it I heard Zayn call to Liam.
