Cassadi Merrick tightened her Calvin Klein velvet moto jacket around her as she quickly passed by Keana Moore's house. Looking at anything that reminded her of her missing best friend sent a violent shiver through her body. All Cassidi could remember from that night was the ridiculously tight, sparkly dresses her and her former best friends had worn to the Rosewood gala-the super exclusive party held at the beginning of each summer to celebrate the best (and richest) people and town.
Keana had mysteriously disappeared after Cassidi had passed out on the ramp outside the outdoor bathrooms, and Rosewood lost it's perfect crime record. A minor was now missing, and nobody saw. No one but Cassidi.
Passing thehuge, Victorian style house was almost as hard as her hearing that she was the last one to see Keana alive. That was over a year ago.
"Hey!" Someone yelled.
Cassidi gasped and whirled around. It was her boyfriend, Matt.
"Oh, hey." The color started to come back to her face.
"What's wrong?" He asked, wrapping an arm around her. He quickly glanced back at Keana's house and nodded. "Oh, that."
"Yeah, that."
A silence fell over them as he decided what to say. He was always optimistic when it came to Kea. He always thought she would magically reappear.
"Maybe they'll find her." He whispered.
"I don't know what to think anymore." Cassadi said, shaking her head.
"Have you heard from the other girls?"
Cassidi snorted. After Kea disappeared, no one had anything to say unless it involved her disappearance. Riley had made a miraculous recovery from her awkward spell from the years before, and now she ran Rosewood Day. Devonne let out her inner brains and was always busy on homework from her AP classes and student council. Jane had always had a love for sports and was now head of every sports team at the high school. Cassadi was just...Cassadi. She was pretty much back to the same Cassadi she was before Keanna had recruited the four girls: an outcast.
"Very funny." She replied.
Matt shrugged and kissed her head. He quickly looked over his shoulder again.
"Should've known. Anyway, I gotta go. See you later." He kissed her on the lips this time and turned to walk in the direction of his school.
Cassadi watched him walk away.
He's acting kind of weird, she said to herself, but everything is weird in Rosewood...
