NICK
I shut my closet and in that moment my door flew open, she didn't even bother to knock. A smile gradually form on her lip as she stepped in closing the door behind her.
She waved greeting me but that wasn't what I wanted, I needed an explanation on how she got the keys to my house, as far as I know only me, my dad and my mum had the key.
Wait a second... My aunty!
"So?" She stood still unlike Melanie the first day she walked into my room. As far as I can remember, that day was stressful, It really surprises me how we've actually gotten to this point.
Her eyes followed my hand as I gestured towards the desk Melanie and I usually use. Taking off her bag she advanced slowly but when she was about to sit down my eyes captured Melanie's note which was right on top of the table.
"Wait!" I shouted which made her flinch.
"What's the matter?"
"I... I uh, I... I think that chair is wet."
"Really?!" She asked about to look down at it.
"Yes!" I shouted which made her look up at me again. Any little eye motion from her and she'd see the book at a glance.
"Oh okay." She said walking away from the desk.
"Just sit at the bed for a second."
"Alright."
I gave out a sigh of relief as she finally walked away. I see she was concentrated on the pictures on my lamp stand so I quickly grabbed the note and shoved it inside my bag. I had one last glance at the room but there was nothing of Melanie's around.
"Who is this?" She asked and I turned to her. She had my family photo in her hand but her index finger was pointing towards the girl by my side.
"That... That's my sister."
"Shit! You have a sister?" she said with a surprised look, "That's so cool! No wonder she's so cute, but you are sorta cuter." I nodded, I didn't really know what to say to her when she had that huge smile plastered on her face.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to make this conversation awkward."
"No," I chuckle, "No you didn't, it's just uh, it's not everyday I get to hear that so..."
She nods still smiling as she puts the picture frame back where it was. I sit down at my normal seat in the desk while she sat down at Melanie's. It actually felt awkward and a little different when I'm looking at a face that's not Melanie's.
Thirty two minutes had gone by, I couldn't seem to take my eyes off the clock when I knew I had Melanie right in my closet. Just when I was already feeling relieved that soon we will be done, she insisted that we return to English. She had said she didn't get what the teacher explained today in class, It was an easy one but still she wanted me to explain.
"So about Melanie," She spoke up and it got my attention at once. "Does she come here often, I mean like everyday?"
I chuckle, shaking my head, "She doesn't, if she did you wouldn't see her at work at all."
"Oh," she laughs a little, "Yeah I guess that's true. Which days does she come here again?."
"Um, I guess Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we did once on a Saturday too but I stopped it after an incident, why do you ask?"
"Nothing just wanted to..." she stops and furrows her eye brows at me.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Today is Wednesday, why isn't she here?"
