They were made to leave,
To go to war long ago,
They had no clue how long they would be gone,
They had to go with the flow.
Yet, they stayed strong.
They left one day,
Fighting through the daylight,
They never knew if they would come back,
They wondered through the night.
Yet, they stayed strong.
They went out on the fields,
Having to fight,
When one of them got shot,
They got a big fright.
Yet, they stayed strong.
They hear a gun shot,
He looks down as he takes his last breath,
They saw the wound and the blood,
They realized it was death.
Yet, they stayed strong.
They had the body taken home,
At the funeral they cry,
The family was given a folded up flag,
They prayed and looked up at the sky.
Yet, they stayed strong.
We all gather for a moment of silence,
On this day in November,
The remembrance of what they did for us,
The ones who fought for us we remember.
Yet, they stayed strong,
They stayed brave,
And we prayed.
