I Grew Up

I grew up by the bay,
Thinking it was the most amazing place in the world.
I grew up thinking,
"I'm never going to leave this place."

I was a child,
A child who would go to the beach.
Watching the beautiful waves,
Clash against the shore,
Going back and forth.
Then I watch the cool waves,
Running over my feet like a blanket.

I grew up by the bay,
Thinking it was the most beautiful place in the world.
I grew up thinking,
"How can I leave all of this."

I was a child,
A child who grew up
with two older brothers.
We would run,
Through those back paths,
Running out of breath.

We ran into trees and branches,
Every now and then with a random rock.
Then in the tall grass,
We would lie there and relax.

We use to play all the time,
Through Summer and Winter.
From swimming in the Summer,
To snowball fights in the Winter.

We also had a lot of fun,
Throughout the Spring and Fall.
With races in the Spring,
To playing in the leaves in the Fall.

I grew up thinking,
"I'm never gonna leave."
I grew up by the bay,
Thinking it was the perfect place.
