Iwaizumi nervously fiddled with his fingers as he walked to the King's throne room. No matter how many vampires he slays, social interaction with people of power is one hell of a fear. He looked over at Keji who was wearing a calm face.

"There is nothing to worry about," Keji assured, reading his mind. "Although he might look like it, my king is the farthest thing from scary."

Iwaizumi winced as Keji stopped at a grand set of doors. He smiled at the other man as he pulled them open.

Once he saw the throne room, his eyes widened. On either side of him, there were waterfalls leading to beautifully constructed fountains. Owl shaped stained glass windows gave off an ocean-like hue against the marble pillars the separated them. As he looked forward, he saw a blue carpet with knights on either side leading to a marble throne.

Sitting on the throne was none other than King Koutarou himself, wearing a navy blue robe and a diamond and sapphire crown.

"My King, I present to you Van Helsing," he said while the both of them bowed.

Koutarou's face lit up as he jumped off his throne. He quickly shook Iwaizumi's hand and smiled. "I am very glad that you decided to come all this way to help my people."

He then turned to Keji and hugged him tight. "Thank you for bringing him, good friend. Once again you have proved your worth as my most trusted and valued knight."

"Of course," He said, smiling while his cheeks turned rosy. "Anything for you and our kingdom."

Iwaizumi didn't want to ruin their moment, but he had a hunch this case was time sensitive. "Pardon the interruption, but before I hunt down this vampire, I'd like to be more familiar with the case."

"Yes," Koutarou said, letting Keji go and sitting back down. "As you know, there has been a vampire attack causing the death of three of my beloved citizens."

Three deaths, Iwaizumi thought in disbelief, usually it's one victim—and even then it's nonfatal.

"So upon hearing of your reputation as a vampire hunter, Sir Keji and I thought it would be best to ask for your assistance."

"We ask that you find the vampire responsible and ensure that he never harms our kingdom ever again," Keji continued, placing a hand on Iwaizumi's shoulder. "Hopefully if we manage to rid ourselves of this problem, our people will roam the streets with joy and without fear."

Koutarou nodded. "It's been quite a long time since I've last seen that ever happen. It fills me with sadness every time I think about that fact."

A melancholy silence filled the room and the knights by Koutarou lowered their heads.

"I'll admit, it has been—and still is—difficult to live and rule without my queen."

Keji nodded while furrowing his brows. Iwaizumi guesses Vanessa was close with the knights as well as the people.

"However," He said while motioning to Keji. "I've had my best knight and good friend here to help me through it."

Iwaizumi glances to Keji and noticed the subtleness of his smile, almost as if there was an unspoken secret between him and the king. The other knights in the room shared a few suspicious glances between themselves as well.

"It is my pleasure," Iwaizumi said while lowering his head. "It is my duty to protect Vollean from any harm, even if it means killing vampires."

"I'd like to thank you once again, Van Helsing, for ensuring the safety of my kingdom." He said.
