I awoke to a sparkling room. Everything glittered, for the most part, the same colors as were typical of things on my plane. Looking around the room, I noticed there was a fireplace where crystal logs were burning. Even the fire had a mystical radiance, the tongues of flame shimmered as they flicked. Then I noticed the same female apologized to me was sitting at the end of my bed.
Now that I was not looking through a glass wall, I could see her features more clearly. She was a beautiful woman. Short and slender, she had ears that flowed down into thin tips that had a glowing blue bead at the end of each. She wore a light green dress made in the same way I had made my boots.
On top of her head was a thin circlet of crystal vines. Underneath, she had flowing brown hair with veins of what looked to be a purple amethyst running though it. Finally, she noticed I was awake, and she smiled at me. My heart almost jumped out of my chest.
Blinking, I sat myself up and rubbed my head. I did feel better than before...right before everything had gone black. How long had I been sleeping?
"How are you feeling?" She asked."I am a more hungry than anything," I replied.
"I will have some food brought in with a new change of clothes." The beautiful girl said with a smile. Clothes? It was at that moment that something struck me, and my face turned red. I was not wearing clothes. Who undressed me? She seemed to understand my redfaced expression and made a small laugh. Even in my embarrassment, I still noticed how beautiful it sounded.
"Do not worry; I did not change you." She put a hand over her mouth to cover her smile. "My name is Xalmia. Your friend tells me that your name is Dak and that you are travelers."
"That is one way to put it, I guess," I replied, then asked. "Where is my big friend?"
"I am just in the other room." Stell sent. "Come and eat."
"He is just in the other room," Xalmia replied.
"Yes, I just heard him there in the other room," I said without thinking as I started getting up and continued. "He said there was food as well."
"How did you hear him? I heard nothing but us talking." She said to me with a puzzled look on her face. Great, you idiot, now she knows you can talk in your head. Maybe she will think I am crazy, and this can all get swept under the rug. Instead, she turned to me and said without her lips moving.
"That is amazing. I did not know others could talk this way, as well." Xalmia sent with excitement. "I have never met another that could do this thing my entire life." she looks as though she might explode with excitement. She had sent her voice so strong that it was a roar in my mind and made me wince.
" Are you alright?" she asked out loud.
"I am fine. Your voice was just a bit too loud in my head, that's all," I said noncommittally. My head was still echoing from her beautiful voice. Then I told her, " you just need to calm yourself when sending your thoughts, do not worry, though, I did the same to Stell the first time we did it."
"Who is Stell to you?" She asked.
"Stell? He is like a bother, I guess. We have known each other since we were kids." I told her. In truth, where he came from is a mystery. Stell had been with my family since before I could remember, and my mother never talked about it. "We have always been there for each other. I mean, he is always there to get me out of trouble." I chuckled.
"Must be nice to have him, I have no brothers or sisters. Dark-Eyed-Ones killed them along with my parents. They were trying to steal the gems from our Great Gem-Hide Tree. The gems on the tree hold more magic than any other gems on this planet. The roots stretch deep to the core of the planet and draw power from there. Once they get the gems, they force the magic to feed the machines they use to mine minerals to build their large stone towers. They are collecting power for something, but I do not know what." Then she got tears in her eyes."The worst part is they force the magic into their machine. They do this by constantly draining the crystals, causing the magic to become angry and unstable. The magic inside turns blood red and feeds the machines more energy, but this destroys the gems. It causes the once beautiful gems to go dark without color and become dark stones that never change and never break. They are dead." She said, shaking with her hands pressed into her lap.
