Walking in the dark, Eddie was alone, thinking about what Jack had said. Hunter and Darnell were messing about, not being kept down by what had happened almost two days ago now. Ella and Ophelia were walking side by side, constantly chatting to each other about theories of the flame they saw. Jack was at the front who had now taken Hunter's compass and was steadily leading them towards the coast. Harper slid in step next to him and was asking about what he knew.
Suddenly, a high pitched scream pierced the quiet night. Eddie turned his head in an instant and Ella was not where she was a second ago.
"Everyone get behind me, Hunter and Darnell," ordered Jack, pulling out a kitchen knife from his sack. Darnell held a meat cleahver which made Eddie uncomfortable as the torch light glinted against the sharp blade. Hunter had found a 2.7 inch pocket knife. Which he swiftly twirled in his fingers. Eddie got behind the three of them.

In the dark were a pair of eyes staring right at them. One eye moved forwards - it was on a lions leg. The other leg with the other eye stepped forwards too. The monstrous creature had a no head or body. It was just two legs with eyes. Eddie wanted to look away but it was as if he was put in a trance by it. He realised that on the top of the legs was a circular bit of flesh that had a gaping hole on the top. With a gasp of shock, Eddie became aware that the gaping hole was the mouth of this creature.

Hunter darted forwards, slicing off one of the two legs that it had. Then Darnell came forwards with his meat cleaver and hacked down onto the mouth, chopping it in half. "Well that wasn't too hard," said Hunter ; he had spoken too soon.
Another emerged from the darkness, with Ella's legs hanging out of the huge mouth. They were limp and soaked with blood. Then the thing with Ella's legs in its mouth suddenly made a foul gurgling sound. It grew louder and louder and then Ella's legs were immediately sucked in the rest of the way.
More and more of the creatures appeared, more and more eyes appeared. They way the eyes stared at Eddie, made his hairs stand on end. The one that had supposedly eaten Ella leapt forwards, about 1 and a half metres high. Whilst mid-air, Jack killed the thing with his powerful kitchen knife. As soon as it fell dead on the floor, the others surged forwards, stepping in unison. A look of pure terror was painted on Eddie's face as they came nearer and nearer.

Then there was the sound of something fast flying through the air. An arrow embedded into the fur of one of the hideous beasts. Another and another. They fell down like soldiers being killed on a battlefield. Before they could be hit, the rest sprinted off. Jack's small group were frozen in shock but then the sound of bare feet slapping the ground broke the silence. A Japanese girl with long black hair in a ponytail appeared.
"Did any of you get hurt?" she asked.
Jack replied, "One of us got eaten. Not being rude but who are you? And what were they?"
"I'm Skylar and this is the rest of my group."
Five more people appeared, all heavily armed with weapons, while Skylar herself had a small knife and a bow and arrow.
One of the five people had a big muscular structure to his body. His hair was dirty blonde with patterns shaved into it. He introduced himself as Ace.
The other boy was almost the opposite, wearing dark blue rimmed glasses. In his right hand he grasped a pebble and in the other he held a slingshot. His sharp eyes and ginger hair were contrary to Ace. This boys name was Luke.
One of the girls was brunette with bleached ends and her amber eyes looked down upon Jack's crew as if she were much better than them. In a snooty, posh voice she told them that her name was Scotia. 'Posh name for a posh person,' Eddie muttered.
The last girl had dark skin and black short hair, held back with clips. She stayed silent and Skylar had to introduce her as Faith. Eddie wondered about Faith, thinking that her posture was very like someone who was nimble and a skilled  fighter. In that moment he knew he wanted to get to know her better.
"The first thing that me and my guys want to know is what were those things out there?" questioned Jack.
"We call them Kaiju. I mean that's what they are," said Luke, answering for Skylar.
Just when he was about to carry on, Scotia interrupted, "It means monster in Japanese. Instead of listening to his lies here's the truth. We know barely anything more than you, so we would like to carry on our journey now, thank you."
She stood up and turned, making her bleached hair whirl around her head. "If you want to talk to those idiots then hurry up. I'll be waiting at the entrance," Scotia bossed to the rest of her group.
"Is it not possible for you to be nice!" shouted Skylar, filled with rage at Scotia's horrible attitude and the way she treated everybody. Skylar stood up and went over to Scotia and shoved her violently against the wall...
