The helicopter ride was quite, not one sound besides the frantic beating hearts from the humans next to us. I stared out the side of the cab, looking as we passed city after city. The lights blared, and you could still hear the sound of horns beeping. But then it hit me. I was going to meet my mother.

Again. Soon.

I shivered, not out of cold, but of fear from my memory. My memory of being turned... The pain. What was it going to be like, being next to my mother after so long... Dad always told me she passes away. Would she even know it was me?

Next to me, Jack sat with his long pale arms rapped around his knees, not even breathing, staring ahead. On the side of him, Sam was playing with a string that must have come loose on his pajama pants. I snorted. At my little outburst, he turned and his eyes locked with mine. He smirked.

He looked so much like a little boy... It's like the turning didn't do him justice as it had me. I looked older, wiser, stronger. But he on the other hand, looked younger, more vulnerable.

"Marie?" I turned to see Sam still gazing at me, his eyes ablaze. "What are you going to do? When you see your mom I mean..."

"I don't know. What should I do?" I asked, shifting so my body was angled twoard the open cab door.

"You shouldn't do anything, little bird. Let your mother do the talking and do as she commands." I twisted to see Jack staring at me with his black, sparkling eyes. Beside him, Sam's mouth was smashed into a small, tight, grim line. Well they're not going to get along to well, I thought.

I nodded and shifted away. I didn't want to hear what they had to say. I wanted to know what I was about to encounter. Where did my mother live? What does she want with me? What use am I, her sixteen year old vampire daughter, to her, the Queen of Vampires?

When I opened my eyes again, the helicopter was descending on a big blacktop platform. Vampires and humans were emerging from a barn-but in my case, it looked like a beat up shed- racing towards up, all dressed in black. Jack and Sam were on their feet, at the edge of the cab, as if they were ready to jump.

I groaned as I rose to my feet to join them, growling at the humans as I passed. My fangs strained against my gums, begging to burst through. God, how easy it would be just to bop them on the head, and suck them dry while they unconscious. I clentched my fist and jaws, willing the thoughts away. Lust for their blood shook their my intier body.

By the time the helicopter touched the soft earth, I was shaking with anticipation, worry, and fear, not to mention my little episode back there with the humans. Jack jumped first, Sam next, and I followed suit, letting them lead the way to what would become my new home.

From where we landed, there were hills all around us, completely concealing us from the outside world. The two beings in the cab of the helicopter glanced out, eyes scanning for an escape. But it was to late, the trap was closed, and the hunters had caught their prey. I smiled, letting my tongue graze over my smooth, sharp teeth.

There seemed to be a glow radiating from the other side of the huge hill on my right, making me squint. God did I hate lights. The other humans and vamps were crowding around us, eyes wide and alert, and bodies ridged, anticipating an attack. I glared... Who did they think they were? I was the Queen's daughter for Christs sake! A sudden jerk on my ripped hoodie brought me back to reality.

Jack was marching up the hill, following the guards and Sam hot on his heels. I sighed, rolled my eyes, and pranced after them. I lingered to the back of the coven, scanning the scenery. Hills upon rolling hills stretched before me... Blending into the night sky. There were no lights, no cars, no humans... How did the vampires survive? We all know that animal blood would supply our dead, decaying bodies with the nutrients it needs, but only human blood could satisfy the Hunger. The source of our madness... Sure, we wouldn't shrivel to nothing but a man eating husk, but we'd still be Hungry, out for blood. Totally and utterly blinded by our Hunger and rage. We'd drain anything and everything in our path until we found a human, so how did they survive?

On top of the hill, I glanced down to see a huge castle, lit torches decorated the stone walls. A flag stood on top of the highest tower, blowing in the wind. It took me a while to realize there was a figure etched into the fabric, blowing slightly in the wind.

My eyes scanned the building, taking in every little crook and cranny my eyesballs could find. The stone walls were massive, towering at least seven stories high, covered in moss. A light mist seemed to be kissing the ground that surrounded the building. Shadows seemed to dance upon the walls, watching, waiting. I chuckled at the thought of ghost haunting vampires. The irony.

I no longer was frightened of the dark, or what my lie within it's stomach, considering I was one of it's very own now. A monster of my own. My eyes scanned the beings in front of me. All dresses in black. If it wasn't for the humans breathing, and the frantic thump thump of their hearts, you wouldn't even be able to tell there was at least seventy to eighty creatures stalking in the darkness.

As we got closer, I could see the landscaping better, and the statues that my mother had picked to um... Keep her company. A fountain sat in the mist of dark flowers and dark red bushes, covered in thorns. It looked as if it were angles playing in the water. The closer we got, the more clearer it got that those darling little angels were anything but.

Three creatures stared at me with grey orbs for eyes. Unmoving. Their faces were frozen in hideous snarls, baring jagged fangs. Wings, leathery wings, seemed to peek over their shoulders, trying to get a glimpse of the newcomers. Their hands and feet-or in this case, paws-were armed with razor sharp claws that were as long as my forearm. They each stood at least fifteen feet tall. I shivered and continued to follow the group. The very sight of them set the hair on my arms on end. I hissed and bared my fangs at the stone creatures.

At the grand doors, Jack turned to me, eyes scanning my face, trying, or so it seemed, warn me... Sam appeared at my side, intwing his fingers in mine. A smile wove it's self on his lips. I couldn't meet his eyes as I slowly untangled our fingers, shuffling away.

The grand doors opened with a hideous groan, revealing a long hallway, covered in paintings, hanging armor, and deep, dark, crimson colored walls. I didn't even realize I'd taken my first steps into the palace until I heard the door slam shut behind me, making me jump.

Each painting consisted of death. Some with vampires, some with vampires feeding, some with humans killing vampires, and etc. It seemed as if they all consisted of blood being spilt, living or not. Long, elegant red cloth draped over the top of each horror, pointing to a large oak door at the end of the hallway, the floor was made out of marble as black as the devils soul. Swirls of gray smoke danced around beneath the marble. It was the only thing letting me no the there even was a floor there, that I wouldn't swallow me whole like I wished it, or something would.

I gulped, and continued my way down the corridor. My mother was behind those doors... My anticipation grew till I was sprinting down the hallway, tears stinging my eyes, and bile rising in my throat. I slammed into the wood with such force, I heard a whine coming from the hinges. My fingers fumbled on the handle, trying to grab hold. Finally, once I had the cool metal in my grasp, I flung the door open. It hit the wall with a sickening crack, and dust flew in swirls and clouds puffing all around me.

I waved my arms frantically, trying to clear it, but suddenly regretted it as soon as I did.

Sitting on a throne, dressed in a sleek black drees that hung like a curtain around her feet, sat my mother. She looked up at me, and smiled.
