Power Outage

   "Alright let's stop roughhousing and sit down and eat!" Lt Catherine ordered her children. They sat down Ben and Caroline continued to kick each other under the table. "While you all are home I would not like to hear you arguing all summer so please get along." Catherine stated. "Yes, ma'am." The children responded. They began eating supper. "So what are you all looking forward to this summer?" Asked Catherine. "Getting to hang out with Ana!" Jessica exclaimed. "You and your partner in crime," Catherine stated. Catherine looked at Ben and Caroline. They gave her a look to say 'I don't know'. "Well wash up and get to bed," Catherine told them.

   Ana was awake for 0500. She was excited to begin her first full day back on the Enterprise. When Ana was walking out of her quarters she noticed Ensign Chekov in the hallway. Ana caught up with him, "Good morning Marie." greeted Chekov. "Thank you for returning my book last night," said Ana. "Your welcome." Chekov said. Ana blushed. "Please call me Ana, I hate when people call me by my real name," she said, nervous. "Of course," he said a little nervous. "Do you want to become friends?" asked Ana. "Yes," said Chekov he smiled and looked at Ana. They walked onto the bridge with a small smile to each other.

   Jessica was tired when she woke up, she was going to have to get used to having to be awake at 0600. Jessica slowly got up and got dressed she then went into the kitchen area. Catherine placed a plate of food in front of the children. "Eat up you have a long day ahead of you." She ordered. They nodded before digging in. "Who is going by your fathers quarters tonight?" Catherine asked. "Me!" Caroline and Ben said with a mouth full of food. "Jessica, are you staying here tonight?" Asked Catherine. "Yes, Can I see if Ana wants to hang out this evening?" she asked. Catherine nodded 'yes' before making sure the kids weren't late.

   Caroline and Jessica headed towards sickbay. "This summer's going to be different with mom and dad not being together," Jessica stated. "Well just try to find something about summer that will make you happy." Caroline suggested. The girls entered sickbay. Jessica headed off to Dr. Crushers office and Caroline went to look for one of the nurses. Jessica entered Dr. Crushers office only to find Dr. McCoy chatting with her. "Good morning!" Jessica said. "It's too early for you to be happy," McCoy stated. "Your just unhappy because you have not had anything to drink yet," Stated Dr. Crusher. "Are you ready for your first day as my assistant?" Asked Dr. Crusher. "Yes!" Jessica said happily. "Good luck with that," McCoy said as he left her office. Caroline came in. "Dr. Crusher one of the nurses needs you." She said. "I will say, Jessica, there is never a dull moment in sickbay!" Dr. Crusher said as the followed Caroline. The rest of the morning the girls were very busy.

   The teens sat in there little lunch group. Wesley Crusher walked over where Ana, Ben, Caroline, and Jessica sit. "Hello Ana, Ben, do you mind if I sit with you all?" He asked. "Sure you can sit with us," Caroline responded. Jessica blushed and also wanted to murder Caroline. Ana was off staring at Chekov at another table. "I love when mom cooks her food is the best" Ben stated. "You all eat strange food, just saying." said Ana. "Well you're probably just used to the maid-"Ben started to say before Ana got mad. " Ana, your always so quiet, anything new or interesting in your life?" asked Caroline. " \Well Ensign Chekov and I are now friends," Ana replied. "Really!" Jessica exclaimed. "Wow, your more excited then Ana," Wesley commented. Ana rolled her eyes. "We are just friends, what's the big deal?" Ana asked. "Yes but eventually that could turn into a relationship," Ben said. Ana rolled her eyes again. "Besides, I think he likes you because out of all the other female ensigns he could be friends with, he chose you," Jessica commented. Ana thought if she rolled her eyes any harder they would roll out of her head. "Speaking of Chekov, he is headed this way," Caroline said. "Great," Ana said sarcastically.

   "Ana, Captain Kirk wants to see you," He said and followed him over to where Kirk was sitting along with Scotty, Uhura, McCoy, and Spock. "I heard you need to see me," Ana stated. She glanced back at her table the others were watching very closely. "Can you Alert the Lexington Starbase that we will be stopping there for a few repairs on the ship?" Kirk asked. "Sure." Ana said. "Chekov go with Ana," Kirk ordered. "Aye, sir." He responded. Ana looked back to see the other signaling her to talk to him. "No, not yet." Ana mouthed back to them. "Shall we head to bridge?" Chekov asked. "Sure," Ana said. The two Ensigns headed to the bridge. "They are never going to be in a relationship at this rate," Jessica stated. The others agreed.

   Ana sat at the helm next to Chekov she did not know rather she wanted to tell him that she liked him or not. "Damn communication is out, Ensigns Chekov and Crusher go down to engineering and see what is going on." Ordered Captain Picard. "Ensign Antoinette change us to warp 8 I am worried we won't make it to the starbase on time with the ship not working," Kirk ordered. Ana changed the warp speed she was still thinking about Chekov. Kirk's communicator went off. "Captain we may have figured out the problem with communication but know the ship's engines are malfunctioning." Chekov stated. "Does Scotty happen to know what could be going on?" Asked Kirk. "He is dealing with another situation." Chekov Replied. "Alright try to hold down the fort, Kirk out." Kirk stated as he turned off the communicator. Suddenly the ship's engines went out. "Our engines are offline sir," Sulu reported. Kirk went to his communicator. "Chekov did you break my ship?" Kirk asked. "No sir, but we are trying to figure out what could be going on." He stated.

   "Did the ship stop?" Dr. Crusher asked. "The engines must be out," Jessica stated. "This ship is going to drive me crazy," said Dr. Crusher. "Why?" Jessica asked. "The communication is out one minute then the engines it's chaos, and of course we will be halfway to the space station, and we will have to answer a distress call," said Dr. Crusher. "Okay?" said Jessica a bit confused. "Can you make sure I filled out these reports correctly please?" asked Dr. Crusher. "Yes, mam, what do I need to do?" Jessica replied. "Make sure I signed them," replied Dr. Crusher. "Yes ma'am," said Jessica. Suddenly the power went out. "Great," Jessica said sarcastically. "I hope communication works," said Dr. Crusher taping her communicator. "Dr. Crusher to Captain Kirk," she said. "Kirk here." He replied. "The power is out in sickbay," Said Dr. Crusher. "Alright, I will send an engineer to fix it, Kirk out." He stated. "Well that might fix one problem," Jessica stated.
