Side Note: Pablo and his girlfriend are so damn cute like ASDFGHJKL STAHP WITH GIVING ME ALL THE CUTENESS FEELS. Also their sweet little dog named Bennie, who they actually adopted from an animal rescue, is by far one of the cutest dogs I have ever seen in my entire life and he even has his own Instagram account.

"Pablo!!! Pablo!!!"
"What's the matter Kaylee?!?"
I rush into our bedroom frantically on the verge of tears as Pablo sat up when he saw how panicked I was, my hands are shaking because I knew this was something Pablo was definitely not going to like and would set him off. This was the kind of thing nobody wanted to hear or ever have to go through in their life, but unfortunately it had just happened and there was no way for either of us could go back in time and make things right. My stomach turned in knots and I felt like I was going to throw up because I simply couldn't take this pain anymore, still not fully knowing how he was going to handle to what I was going to tell him what I had only just been told. I then watch Pablo as his face goes pale while his fists ball up when I finally tell him, making my heart sink to my stomach because I too found myself starting to become enraged about the circumstances surrounding why the police had just contacted us.
"It's Maya!!! Oh my god babe. She's in the hospital and she isn't good. The police - The police called and said they have Andrew in custody and that Maya's in critical condition, they had to put her in a medically induced coma. She might not even make it through tonight with how bad she is Pablo, they have her on life support but they said that she's deteriorating really fast, they're not even sure if she'll be able to make a turn around. The police didn't tell me about what happened to her exactly, but I think that I have a pretty decent idea about what that piece of shit did to her"
"N-No... No no no... This can't be happening... Not to Maya... Not my sweet little sister... That fucking piece of shit!!! I could honestly fucking kill him!!!"
"Baby please relax, baby I need you to look at me please. Take a few deep breaths and take it easy alright, just sit back down and let's make a plan about what we need to do"

You are going to call Don and tell him what's happening and I am going to pack some things so we can visit Maya. I called the hospital and they said we are welcome to visit and stay in the room with her overnight as long as we don't cause much of a disturbance"
I sit in front of Pablo and let him hold me tight as he starts crying with his face buried into my neck, Maya has been one of his closest best friends since they were both still wearing diapers and they where extremely close. Knowing how close he and Maya were was it hurt to see him in this pain and distress given what happened, it also made me angry because Maya and I had even formed our own bond since I began dating Pablo last year. Pablo pulls me on his lap with a broken whimper that tore at my heart as I stroked his back tenderly to soothe him, knowing that he was terrified about possibly losing his childhood best friend who has since become like another sister to him since she first became an orphan.
"I need to go - I need to see her Kaylee, at least once while we know she's alive in case the worst happens. I just need to have the chance to say goodbye if she doesn't make it through this"
"Come on then Pablo, I'll drive us to the hospital alright"
"How am I going to tell José? This is going to hurt him so much, you know how much he cares about Maya. He will be crushed when I tell him, Maya is one of the only people who can calm him down when he gets really pissed off, and if she doesn't make it-"
"Take it easy there alright babe, we still have to be positive about this situation. We both know there's a chance Maya could still pull out and fight through everything okay, you know that she would never give up about anything without giving it a really good fight because of how strong willed she is"
"You're about that right Kaylee, I do need to be positive about all of this. Now let's go to the hospital and see Maya, it will really give her a reason to keep fighting instead of giving up"
I smile and kiss Pablo gently before getting off the bed so I can get myself cleaned up a little bit, I hear Pablo sniffle with a heavy sigh as he shuffles around the room and packs some stuff for us to bring to the hospital with us. Pablo chuckles when I play with his beard for a moment before dragging him out of the apartment, he gets his keys from his pocket and unlocks the car, putting a bag in the trunk before he got into the passengers seat with a tired groan. Pablo and I hold hands during the 30 minute drive to the hospital Maya was admitted to, Pablo's hands were trembling as he whimpers loudly and wipes away tears from his cheeks occasionally. I hold his hand tight and continue to reassure him that things could possibly get better for Maya because she always had such a fighting spirit, he leans against me as we walked into the hospital check-in area hand in hand. I nuzzle my face against Pablo's side once we check in and are told the recovery room Maya has just been placed in, which is situated in the ICU, as I feel Pablo tense up considerably because of how nervous he was about finding out what condition Maya was in.
"Hold on a minute Pablo, maybe we should get her a gift from the gift shop"
"A fuzzy stuffed animal Kaylee. She would love it so much if we got her a stuffed animal"
"Let's go and see if they have a dog one, you know that she loves those stuffed animals the best"
Pablo seemed to perk up a little when I suggested that we stopped in order to buy a gift for Maya, yet I could tell that he was still agitated and worked up about the circumstances of Maya's hospitalization, I rub his arm softly to help soothe a little bit him before he could let any of his anger out. I smile as Pablo makes his way to the plush animals in the gift shop and picks one out that looked like a Boston Terrier, which also happens to be one of the dog breeds that Maya adores the most in life and gets excited when she sees one, so a stuffed animal Boston Terrier would definitely give her a nice boost.
