Watch Me

Watch me
Cry over scraps of your letters,
Littered all over my mahogany table top,
Torn to pieces the night you gave up,
The night everything went to flop.

Watch me
Blubber incessantly over old tapes,
Fingers pressed on rewind, replaying the same time
Over and over again, dribbling misery
As I wallow over everything that could be just fine.

Watch me
Make a mountain out of a molehill,
Even if the hill was my heart pristine and perfect;
I write shitty poems about you because I can
And make matters worse and full of crap.

Watch me
Paint the skies with your signature
As I try to make your name stop echoing in my head;
Darkness is not black enough to blank out
The sickly memories with ghastly weight.

Watch me
Ruin your health with ridiculous messages
That you don't understand-why can't I just understand
That the past is past and there is no use
In pursuing matters anymore because you have plans.

Watch me
Give trouble to you as you shake your head
And the pathetic mess; oh if only I could move on
Because you have, and you're doing fine
While I'm stuck in this self-inflicted misery pond.

Watch me
Be human as I recover from something that meant
The world to me.
Watch me
Feel because I have a heart that moves
And beats in sync with pleasantries.
Watch me
Understand what it's like to breathe again
After suffocating for too long, buried under leaves.

Watch me live,
While your cold heart breathes
Beneath the stink
Of your sly, mischievous wink.
