It was just like every other day, Zoe, a young fair girl sat on a stool looking at the almost filled canvas in front of her. Zoe was a girl with brown hair and blue eyes, she was, as seen from the outside a completely normal child. She is soon to turn 17 in a couple of months.

Everyday, there is something inside her waiting, just waiting, little did she know that what she would find out, would be the answer to all her questions...

'Zoe!' shouted Mark, her best friend, he was so overjoyed to see her, he had amazing news

'Zoe, Zoe, Zoe! look look look' he said waving a piece of paper in front of her face, she took hold of the paper and read it

'Oh my god, Mark this is amazing, when did this happen?' she asked jumping up and off the stool, paper still in hand

'In English, oh, Zo this is amazing! i can't believe it, This Friday night, oh my god i'm so exited!!' he said jumping for joy.

Mark was a tall lad for his age. He and Zoe had been best friends since they could walk, they lived just next door to one another, and they loved it. Mark had been wanting Marcus Smith, a boy who Mark had been crushing on since year 8 to ask him out, and finally he did, by passing a not to him in English.

As Zoe and Mark stopped jumping, their joy still on their faces, Zoe sat back down, and looked at her canvas. Her art had always been different, yes everyone has their own muse, but this was different and not like a quirky difference, it stood out, but not in a good way, she looked around the room, looking at all the art on the walls. Hers always had a supernatural feel to it, like it fit with her but didn't fit in.

Zoe had never fit in, she was always seen as the weirdo, the girl the populars had always taunted. Her and her brother, Joe. They had always been close, but something was different, as much as she loved her family and they loved her, it was like they was holding something from her, a secret. but to Zoe she always wondered was it really a secret or was her family waiting to get rid of her?

'Oh Zo, come on, your art is amazing, have you not seen the look on Miss Heather's face? she loves you and your art' Mark says putting his arm around her and rubbing her arm trying to bring her smile back

'What would i do without you?' she says looking up at mark smiling

'You'd be sad' he says with a smile, making Zoe laugh

As she walks towards the diner, that her family owned, she saw Alfie stood at the counter. Alfie Dayes, he was a tall lad, he had just tuned 17 just last month

'Hey honey' Zoe's dad says as she walks behind the counter

'Hey dad' she says walking past Alfie and heading round the back, as she pulls on her apron, she walks back to the front and starts clearing tables,

'As Zoe walks back, a group of girls walk past the window and start giggling

'Honey, nevermind them, your beautiful' he says kissing his daughter on the head

'Yea, she is' Alfie says out loud, her dad looks at him

'Well, you-you know what i meant, like'

'Alf, man, shut up' Joe says walking in

Zoe shakes her head looking back to her dad who picked up his coat

'I'll be back later on tonight, me and your mum have a date, so please keep business up and look after the place, Joe, i need you to wash the dishes tonight'

'Okay Dad' Zoe and Joe say in sync

'Okay love you, bye'

All four of them say goodbye as he walks out of the door, and within 15 minuets, the diner slowly fills up, Joe was in the back washing dishes, Alfie adding up the numbers for the till, Zoe wiping down tables and Mark following behind her with a red tray, with napkin holders filled and placing them down in the middle of each booth or table.

As the diner slowly filled up, Zoe started serving people, until 4 certain people walked in...
