MJ was all agro as she packed her bag and headed for school. Something in the air was giving her this tasteless, dark mood as if a little cloud with rain was following her around, soaking her in its negative emotion.
She zipped up her back pack and grabbed a bagel as she headed for the door. Her parents were still asleep, so she need not worry of them. She left the appartement silently as to not wake any body up.
She trotted down the stairs in pitiful sorrow with depressing thoughts swirling her mind. She got outside on the streets of queens and headed for a subway.
A figure landed beside her in the sidewalk. She pulled out a can of pepper spray from her purse and sprayed it.
"You know, that had no affect through the mask right?" Said spider man, the person she'd sprayed with pepper.
"What are you doing here?" She asked with the can still raised as some sort of threat.
"Just thought I'd come see you." He replied casually.
"Well I don't need to clean up any more windows so you can leave me alone now." She said, not meaning to come off as rude as she sounded. "I'm sorry, that was mean."
"Your fine. I actually just saw you so I thought I'd say hi." He did, most likely smiling under the mask.
"Hi." She said the walked away, putting the can back in her purse.
She senses him following her still so she purposely caught herself in a thick crowd as to be hidden. Using the shield of people, she disappeared into the subway.
Once her train arrived, she climbed on. It was so full that she had to stand without room to even hold onto a pole, or wall for that matter.
One of the stops came up and as the doors open, MJ fell over into some one. It was Peter, the boy in her class.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!" She said as she stood off of him.
"It's fine, you should be more careful." He chuckled warmly. His smile made MJ's heart want to jump out of her chest and hug the adorable nerd. But she couldn't. She must keep her feelings repressed, plus he wasn't her soulmate.
"Yeah." She mumbled as the doors closed and the train lurched forward sending both MJ and Peter to the floor. "Ahh!" She said as her head hit the ground with a thud.
"Ouch, you alright?" He said as he helped her up.
"I hate trains." Was all she could say.
Later at school MJ couldn't even look at Peter from her embarrassment. But this was usual because she never looked at any one as if their look would infect her with kindness. And she didn't want to be kind, not today.
She kept to herself in the back of the classroom, drawing the teacher up front so it looked like she was paying attention and taking notes. But really she was making Mr. Hudson look like a bloated giraffe.
Something hit the back of her head, which was strange because no one sat behind her. She turned around and saw a crumbled up note on the floor that had bounced off her head. She picked it up with curiosity. Opening it up, she read, "hey, I see you. Guess we take the same biology class." - SM
Sm? Spider man, was all MJ could think of as no one in her class had the initials SM. Unless it stood for Stupid Muggle, or Stinky Mudblood. Wow, MJ felt she was becoming too much of a potterhead.
Her eyes widened. If this was spider man than that meant he was a teenager, and went to her school. And was in her class. She looked around as if the masked hero would just be sitting their in the room. But obviously he was in his civilian form, other wise it would be plain weird.
She looked at her classmates, studying each and every detail of them as if she could tell who it was by looking at them. Her eyes met Peter's and she quickly looked away. This crush was getting out of hand, he wasn't even her soulmate!
... as if that mattered.
Did she really need to act on what the universe had chosen for her, or could she act on love?
When the bell rang, she left a note on the floor, hoping the spider would see her leave it there. P.S. she had written stalker on it just to get on his nerves.
In her next class another note hit her head. She opened it and read I'm not a stalker. I just couldn't help but see you in the class.
As that class ended she wrote a note and stuck it in the desk for him saying why does it matter. You only broke my window and now you think we're best friends.
Again, in the next period she was tossed a note by the mysterious identity. Well actually I think we might have a connection. Do you have a mark yet?
That's none of your business. She write at the end of class. The lunch bell rang and she rushed to the cafeteria to eat alone.
Except she wasn't alone. Ned and fricken Peter Parker day with her for some random reason.
"Hey MJ." Said Peter Cooley.
"Get outta muh swamp!" She quoted Shrek. The boys started laughing. MJ felt she was sitting on air hearing Peter laugh.
"By the way, you kept leaving papers in the classes so I picked me up." Peter said, passing her the notes she had given to that stupid spider.
"How did you get these!?" She ripped them out of his hands. Ned started laughing like it was some inside joke. MJ glared knives into his forehead. "What's so funny Ned?!"
"Nothing ma'am!" Ned straightened himself out.
"Good. You.. you didn't read them.. did you?"
"Only all of them." Peter said. MJ wanted to die in a puddle of shame.
The fricken stalker was Peter.
