Chapter Twenty.
To say I was happy or glad was an understatement. I over the moon, she was out of our lives. But, my dad looked sad. He sacrificed his happiness for us. I didn't know what to feel. Happy that she was gone? Or sad that dad wasn't happy?
"Dad, you didn't have to. We could've worked things out."
"No, no. I'd rather your guys happiness over mine."
"But dad, I don't like seeing you sad. You look sad already."
"I'm fine though, she would have left again anyways. I know her too well."
"She might have changed." Why am I defending her now? I hate her.
"Why are you-"
"I don't know dad. I just want you to be happy. I know you want us to be happy but we also want you to be happy."
"I'll find someone who makes us all happy. That person is not Jen. You guys hate her and I don't even love her anymore. I can't. She broke my heart and I can't love her anymore. Maybe I'll find someone else who will one day become your step mum and you'll both be happy."
"I guess."
"You need a mother figure. I know its a bit late but its still worth having a mother figure even if you're older and don't need one as much."
"I do have a semi mother figure."
"You do?"
"Alex's mum. She's really nice and amazing. Apparently I'm the daughter she never had. But she's really cool too."
"Alex? That guy yesterday?"
"Yeah."
"Who is he to you? A friend?"
"We're dating now."
"You are?"
"Yep."
"Invite him over properly so I can interrogate him."
"Dad!"
"What? I am an overprotective father you know. No guy is ever good enough for my baby girl."
"Oh dad, stop. Please thats embarrassing."
"Embarrassed I love you too much?"
"No not that.. The fact you want to interrogate him and stuff.."
"Well its my job. I'm sure Tony has already done it too."
"Well, Alex and Tony are friends."
"They are? Oh yes I remember you guys brought him home one time."
"Yep. Uh, just letting you know, I'm going over later. We're going to watch a movie or something."
"No funny business. Or I'll mentally murder him."
"Uhh okay dad." I back away, faking scaredness.
"I'm serious. No funny business."
"Okay, don't worry we won't."
"Better not."
"We won't!"
"Good."

"BYE DAD." I yell upstairs.
"BYE SWEETHEART." He yells back.
"Bye Tony, see you later."
"See you, need a ride there?"
"Nah, he's picking me up."
"Are you guys dating now?"
