News of the double murder spread quickly throughout the small town, with a population of two hundred people it could be considered a village; as all of the buildings and homes were built surrounding the chapel.
An outside news station had driven to this small town; following the story of Atrox's untimely demise they now had to cover the new murder case. They parked their van outside the doors of the police station; now surrounded by a mob of concerned citizens and two armed officers. From the van; Karen a smartly dressed woman with short cut blonde hair and a knack for getting in other people's business, stepped out of the van with her not so well dressed camera man. Carrying of course, a large high resolution camera on his shoulder to film Karen as she probed people for information.
The pair pushed their way through the crowd where Karen immediately approached the chief of police; Victoria, a tall woman with a darker variant of Karen's hair style, brown eyes and a more respective additude to fit her dark blue coat.
"Excuse me" Karen exclaimed in a southern accent "what have the police done to further these investigations?", Victoria turned to Karen and sighed heavily. She wasn't in the mood to deal with reporters,
"Ma'am, I assure you we are just as new to this investigation as you are" Victoria said raising her hands in a comforting fashion.
"We have only found the bodies this mourning" she continued "and as of now, we have already ruled out a wild animal attack-" Karen took a step towards Victoria and interrupted the explanation,
"how do you know?" she asked. Victoria held a poker face, resisting the temptation to ruin Karen's self esteem with a lethal dose of sarcasm,
"because" Victoria said slowly "whilst the bodies were indeed mutilated, it is unclear whether that was done during. Or after the initial attack"
Karen opened her mouth and Victoria raised a finger and spoke with emphasis "and the only means of entry would have been through the locked door. And since a window was broken with none of the glass falling inside the room, we assume what or whom ever did this was in the room to begin with." Victoria closed her hands together in front of her and leant towards Karen, "so to answer your question Ma'am. We don't know what exactly happened."
Disappointed Karen glared at Victoria before, slowly turning away from her to push her way back out of the crowd with her cameraman in toe. Waiting just outside the swarm of people was one person Karen was delighted to see, the town's pastor Father John; a man respected for his charitable efforts and known for influencing some of the town's greatest improvements.
Karen made a beeline for priest, with a professional smile whacked on her face "Pastor" Karen said once again standing in John's personal space.
"How do you think the murders happened?" she asked, John smiled warmly and slowly nodded his head
"this a tragic incident" John said with all forms of clarity and reasurancs in his voice.
"Personally, I believe this is not the work of man nor beast, but something else entirely" people from the crowd began to turn to the pastor, ignoring Victoria.
"This is clearly the work of the devil" John continued now with everyone surrounding with, each with their own expression of gullible and sheepish on their face,
"you haven't even seen the crime scene yet" Victoria said in frustration.
But John continued now with his arms raised slightly in the air "I have been blessed with the sight from that of lord jesus christ, it was he who showed me the light."
