when you're actually getting somewhere relationship wise
Chapter 13
"I-I mean if you do too, you don't have to say you like me. I-I mean you don't have to say anything really. I-I was just saying it, y-you should just forget everything I just said..."
"Farrah," I begin, shutting her up.
"What?" she asks still looking distraught.
"I like you too," I say smiling at her nervous demeanor.
Despite her red cheeks, she smiles in response to my confession.
Suddenly the door to the room flies open taking both of us by surprise, Farrah a lot more than me, who falls on her chair with a loud thump as she hits the floor.
Ava rushes over to help Farrah out while Van stands at the door looking at both of us curiously. "Are both of you alright?" he asks taking in our red faces and flustered facial expressions.
"Y-yes just... w-we were," I trail off my mind completely blank on excuses.
"Funny jokes," blurts out Farrah as she lifts her chair off the ground.
"Ok..." says Ava not completely convinced but thankfully not digging any further.
After another check up by the doctor and when visiting hours are over I'm left all alone by myself in this eerily silent hospital room.
I finally call my parents letting them know that I'm currently in hospital, something most parent would freak out upon hearing. Whereas mine just wish me well and inform me that they won't be home for the next couple of days. Which is fine because looking after their only child is not something I've known them to do really well.
Closing my phone, I stare at the tiled ceiling, the faint pounding of my head coming back into focus.
The dark room is suddenly filled with light after a notification pings from my phone.
It's a text from Farrah.
- Just double checking you do like me right?
Smiling at the text, I call her knowing it would be easier for her than using Siri to convert her words into text which often stuffs up what she's saying.
"Hi Zeke, so I wasn't just dreaming about today was I?"
I shake my head laughing slightly, "I hope you weren't because I really do like you."
As a response I hear slight laughing from the other end of the phone. "That's good to know."
"I wouldn't expect more now. I don't think a first date in a hospital is very memorable so you might have to wait a bit."
"I think I'll can handle waiting until you're better" she answers. "You know if I have to wait than that means my expectations will be higher," she continues.
"Oh really?" I say, currently clueless on ideas for a first date.
"I don't know, this would be my first first date, so I expect something big," I'm surprised to hear that no one has ever asked her out before.
"Well it's my first first date too so don't expect too much," I say, excited to be able to spend more time getting to know this amazing girl.
