Finally I'm out of school. I have two classes with Elmo. Dance and Journalism. In journalism, Rosita sits with me so I have not had very many issues. At least today. But in dance I not only have that class with him, he is my dance partner. No matter how hard I begged the dance teacher to trade me people, he refused.
"Holá amiga."
"Rosita. Boy am I glad to see you."
"what happened?"
"I have a dance class with Elmo. It wouldn't be that bad but... I mean he's my dance partner."
"Oh, now that just isn't fair. You can't dance with a guy like that, Amiga."
"Thank you. At least you understand. The teacher didn't understand my negative feelings at all. Where are Telli and BB?"
"They walk home."
"Can we walk home?"
"Sure. I'll let my mom know I'm taking you to see Allen."
"Oh I can't wait to see Allen. I should probably call my mom too."
Let's call that familiar bumber.
"Hello?"
"Hey mom, Rosita is taking me to see Allen."
"Um, honey? Allen was admitted to the hospital this morning."
"What?"
"Honey, calm down. Your powers are linked to your emotions."
"What hospital is he at?"
"The Via Christi hospital downtown on 132 st."
"Okay. Mom, I'm leaving sesame street."
"Be back by eight."
"Got it."
"What's going on, amiga."
"Allen is in the hospital."
"Oh no."
"Come on."
"Right. I need to call my mom." "Okay."
Hmm... I feel like someone is watching us. Let's see and there it is. I see the red fur. Asshat of a monster. Urg! I know I shouldn't be so angry. There's probably a reason on why he's acting like this but he infuriates me... calm down. Remember your training.
"Si, mama. Mucho glacias."
"Come on, grab my hand."
"What? You don't need your wand to teleport?"
"Not anymore."
"Alright."
"We want to be there until the end so take us to Allen, who is our friend."
Here we go.
Teleporting with people takes a little out of me, but I managed to stay up as I made to the lobby on the main floor. Only to see two people I haven't seen yet.
"Snuffy? Big Bird?"
"Amigos! Amigos!"
"Rosita. Who's the friend?"
"It's Abby."
"We can talk later, though. Are you two here for Allan?"
"Yeah. We got the news and rushed right over. We were having lunch together."
"Right, Big Bird. Chris called big Bird and informed him of what was happening."
"What's the situation, then. I've been wanting to see him but not like this."
"Sorry Abby. But it's not looking good. He's had a heart attack. One so severe that it sent him into a seizure. They've stabilized him but... he signed a non-recesitation paper so, that is usually a bad sign."
"Actually, Big Bird, that is based on the age as well as the severity of the situation. But it is a bad sign. May we see him?"
"Yeah. We just came from seeing him."
"Room?"
"Building two, floor five, room five hundred four. Right Big Bird?"
"Right, Snuffy."
"Thank you. Rosita, are you coming?"
"Si, right behind you, amiga."
It was a race to the floor and as we made it there I saw Allen laying there, staring at the ceiling.
"Allen, amigo?"
"Hmm?"
The guy shifted his gaze as Rosita spoke and smiled at us.
"Hola, Rosita. Is that Abby Cadabbi with you?"
"Hey Allen."
"Amigo, we rushed over as soon as we heard."
"Well thank you, Rosita."
He's dying. Those last wish people have been here. And he's sad. I can see it. Although seeing us did give him joy. "How are you feeling, Allen?"
"As great as I can feel in a bed all alone."
"I'm sorry, amigo."
"Oh, no, Rosita, don't be sorry. I'm just getting older. Happened to Gorden, my time wasn't far behind."
"Right."
"What happened to Gorden?"
"He died last year."
"Aw, what a travesty."
"Indeed, Abby. He was one of my closest friends. I wish he was here."
"Wh-What if I told you that I could briefly make that happen?"
"Amiga, are you serious?"
"Allen, this seems to be your last and greatest wish, from what I see. I can make this happen. Would you care to speak with Gordan one last time?"
"Abby... could you really do that?"
"It is your final wish."
"If you can do that, I would appreciate it."
"Alright, Rosita, Allen, give me your hands please."
I can't bring Gordan back. I wish I could, but I can't. What I can do is take in all the memories these two have of Gordan, and with that, create a memorial Gordan.
Memories of Gordan the science teacher, manifest yourself into this creature.
I could feel my powers reach into Rosita and Allen. With it I opened my eyes and envisioned Gordan standing right there. A few seconds later, there he was.
"Gordan."
Look at that smile.
"Hey Allen. Not lookin so hot today, are ya?"
"Nope, I am not. I am so glad to see you, my friend. It has felt like an eternity since the last time."
"I agree."
"Gordan, amigo."
"Rosita and Abby too. What a treat. What's the situation, friend?"
"I'm dying. Abby fulfilled my last wish. I'm glad I get to see you before I die."
"Well if this is your last days on earth. Then I'll see you on the other side. They got chess there too."
"I can't wait for our match."
"Wait, amigo."
"Yes Rosita?"
"Can I get a picture of you two before you go?"
"Yes, of course."
Aw, she's crying. I guess she needed this too.
Rosita got her phone out and the Gordan I made crossed over to the bed. Allen smiled as Gordan put an arm around him.
Almost like he never left.
"Got it, amigo. Might I have a hug?"
"Sure, Rosita."
Allen hugged him and then Rosita. He then smiled at me.
"And thank you, Abby Cadabbi. I'll be watching over you two."
"Right."
"We'll miss you, Gordan. You and Allen are both great men."
"Rosita is right."
"Well thank you."
And there he goes. Wow. That was tiring to make.
"Thank you, Abby. You are amazing for doing that for me."
"Well, if this is the only time I'll get to see you, I want you to smile sincerely."
"I love you, Allen. You were family to me."
"You will always be a part of my family, Rosita."
"Come on, I need to go home."
"Okay, amiga. Have a good day, Allen."
"Bye, girls."
My emotions are welling. Oh boy. I have to go home and sit in the magic proof room for a while.
