so i'm editing this a lot more right now, i got the coronavirus from work and i suddenly have a lot of time on my hands that i don't really know what to do with. i'll try and update this more because i want to get trans boy off the market completely and replace it with this. hopefully my writing has improved in the past four years since i uploaded trans boy, but if not, im not surprised.

also its been a long time since I've updated this and i hate reading my own work, so it might be a little strange and inconsistent in some parts but i'm really trying my best to make it work together. i'm just so tired and i can't bring myself to care. it helps knowing im doing this for the people who liked the first one, and everyone who comments and showed me that this was actually really good, so im trying. im just struggling and im trying so please stick with me and point anything out i fucked up on.

Charlie was obviously the most energetic counsellor there. Daniel's group had gotten back just before dusk, and it seemed as if every other group had been waiting for quite a while for them. Charlie apologised to their group first, then to the other counsellors. Daniel hadn't expected to be out there so long, or to come back the last group.

"Go on, you don't have to be the last to dinner, too." Charlie said.

"See ya," Theo said, throwing up a peace sign as he walked backwards from Daniel before turning around and heading back to camp.

Daniel followed, meeting up with Roami shortly after.

"Hey, girl!" She shouted excitedly, grabbing the attention of those around them. She caught herself, gasping and covering her mouth with wide eyes. "Sorry, I forgot I shouldn't--hey." She tried to fix it and stopped, Daniel silently thanking her. He much preferred people just fix it silently or without making a huge scene.

"No big deal," he shrugged, stuffing his hands in his pockets. He knew he didn't pass, but he didn't realise it was that bad.

"Where's everyone else?" He asked, trying to change the subject while they walked.

Roami was smiling like an idiot, had a little more hop in her step, and Daniel was now invested in why.

"Already down there, probably," she said. She looked up at the sky, which was finally clearing up.

Daniel looked back at his feet out of habit and wondered where he was going to wash his clothes, wishing these weren't his only good jeans and favourite hoodie.

It wasn't until they started passing others with bowls packed with food, sitting at tables with their friends, that Daniel realised he was fucking starving. And he missed being around people he was comfortable with. But mostly the hunger, part. His group had been so busy with group activities that they hadn't stopped for lunch, and it hadn't hit him until then.

He grabbed Roami's arm and dragged her quicker. He really wanted some food, she was really slow, and he wasn't going to eat it cold. She said something and grabbed his wrist like he had hers. He grip was light, much more gentle than he was expecting.

"Take whatever you like," Chloe said, trailing off as she watched Daniel take as much as he could. That was all he needed to hear. "You're the last two."

Roami watched and stifled laughter, Daniel taking two bowls. "Are you sure?" He asked, not caring if they said no. Chloe laughed and nodded.

He grabbed a water bottle, Roami grabbing two, figuring it he was eating that much food he'd need more water. He followed her outside.

"I love food," she whispered with excitement. She had probably half as much as he did, but she definitely had more than he expected her to grab.

"You miss lunch, too?" He asked, stabbing a piece of chicken he'd grabbed with one of the cheap plastic forks they provided for the campers who didn't bring their own reusable utensils.
