Your son Vali lay quiet in his crib. He was sound asleep as Loki changed into his pajamas. You looked up at Loki. It had been about 6 months after the baby was born and you were now living in the New Avengers base, a little ways away from the main area of New York. The sky outside was dark. Hardly any stars could be seen due to pollution. Loki was slowly adjusting to life on Earth and away from his home.

Loki climed into bed and pulled you close to him. You smiled and kept your eyes on the crib, protectively. "How was Vali today?" Loki asked. You could hear the smile in his voice. "He was good. He cried a couple of times when Thor was talking loudly and when Tony dropped some equipment, but other than that he was happy and bubbly like usual." You replied. "Auntie Nat, also bought him a stuffed bunny while she was out."

Loki peered over your shoulders, into the crib and found his sleeping son clinging to the light green stuffed bunny. It looked new, and some of the green faux furs shed all over Vali's onesie. Loki smiled once again and returned his gaze to you. "And your day was good?" You looked into his green eyes with a smile. "Yeah. Surprisingly it wasn't as stressful as some of the others. How was your mission?"

Loki smiled again and chuckled. "It was the most action I've had all week. Besides you of course." He smirked and you hit him playfully. "When do you think you'll have everything ready to stop them?" Loki sighed. "I have no idea. But they are getting more dangerous by the hour and I fear that if we don't do something fast they could get the upper hand on us."

"Have you let Thor know about it?" You asked sensing a bit of worry in Loki's tone. "I have. I don't think he listened though. I still feel like no one around here trusts me. Especially Romanoff and Barton." Loki confided. "I don't blame them. But you'll just have to wait for people to start trusting you again. Especially America." You concluded. He nodded. You shifted closer to him. "I just hope you stay safe when we start fighting again... " He held you close.

Vali began to get restless and you and Loki stayed silent until he quieted down again.

"I just couldn't bear to lose you or Vali." You whispered.

"I know. And I too." Loki whispered back.

It was silent for another moment. Loki hugged you.

"Promise that if they do attack before we do, you'll take Vali and run as far away as possible?"

You didn't want to make a promise to leave Loki behind like that but he wouldn't let you say no and risk the baby's life.

"Promise." You whispered hoping that it would never come to that. Loki smiled, gave you one last kiss for the night and the two of you settled down for the night. You were only woken by Vali twice that night and the rest of the evening was filled with dreams.
