Beside You | Cashton

Calum was scared shitless. He knew Ashton didn't mean to do what he did. But he still set an entire cafeteria on fire without getting caught. Calum thought it kinda linked with that when something happens to Ashton that he doesn't like, he hurts people.

Like when they were sixteen and an old lady accidentally rolled her trolley wheel over Ashton's foot, and when she didn't apologise immediately he pushed her into a stack of cans. But just recently when that boy took his hat he got pushed down the stairs.

Calum was also confused because when Ashton first came to the hospital they said he passed the anger management tests. But then again apparently Ashton didn't say a word that day.

This led Calum to wonder why Ashton didn't hurt the boy that Calum got pushed over by. He remembers Ashton stomping his foot but that was it.

He heard the bathroom door unlock slowly and Ashton poked his head round. "Calum?"

"C'mere you" Calum held out his arms and Ashton ran into them and began crying again.

Calum held on tight because he knew it was a matter of time before the hospital watched the cameras and saw who it was Ashton and he would be punished.

He lay the now asleep Ashton on his couch and covered him with a blankets and face planted his other couch.

Then his phone began to ring

"Hello?" he grumbled

"So what happened?" he heard Luke ask

"It was him Luke. It was him. He set fire to the hospitals kitchen" Calum's voice cracked. He was so scared.

"Hey don't cry buddy" Luke cooed over the phone "It will all work out somehow"

"How? The police will get him and they'll put him in a straight jacket- how did I not see these signs before?"

"Calum just calm down okay? Maybe the cameras didn't catch him. They could've burned in the fire"

"Luke the cameras are literally on every corner! It's a fucking mental hospital. They'll see him getting out of his room and they'll put two and two together and voilà!"

"Spend time with him" Luke blurted out

"What?"

"Well you're so positive that they're going to take him away and you seem to be shooting down all my other ideas, so spend time with Ashton before they take him away" he explained

"...okay" Calum mumbled

"There you go" Luke chuckled "I'll see you soon yeah?"

"Bye Luke"
