As Maisie finish tying up the thin lace of her brown winter boots, Lily knocked impatiently on her wooden door,
"Hurry up dipshit, the dogs are waiting."
Maisie rolled her eyes at her older sister. She stood up off her bed, took one last look at her appearance in her mirror and opened up the door to reveal an unimpressed looking Lily.
"I told you to be ready in 5 minutes, 10 fucking minutes later, we're still here waiting for you to finish faffing around with your boots." She scoffed with her pale hand resting firmly on her hip. Maisie shoved past her, picking up one of the dog leads on her way too the door.
They both called out a goodbye to their mum in sync, not waiting for an answer from her as she was busy preparing the dinner. They exited the drive way, not speaking a word to each other, both too busy admiring the sun sinking into the calm Brighton sea. The chilly autumnal breeze blew through both girls long hair. Lily clutched the edges of her navy duffle coat, pulling it closer to her chest. Maisie, who was walking slightly faster, stopped to pull back her dyed blond hair into a messy pony tail to get it off her face, which caused Lily to catch up and bump into younger teenager. Both girls glared and rolled their eyes at each other but soon laughed it off before Lily playfully pushed Maisie's shoulder.
Letting the dogs off their leads as they reached the deserted beach, they struggled to walk on the slippery pebbles. The two alike girls both followed the two dogs further onto the shore, but soon both Lily and Maisie couldn't catch up with Drift and Lulu who had hurtled away from them, both playfully tugging at a stray piece of seaweed that had been abandoned by the sea.
"Errm Lily, what are they playing with?" Maisie inquired, as she pointed a long finger in the direction of the dogs.
"Seaweed?" Lily guessed as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Hey! Why did the seahorse blush?!"
"I don't know Maisie. Why did the seahorse blush?" Lily said in a bored, flat tone.
"Because the sea-weed!" Maisie chuckled slightly, "God I'm so funny." She muttered to herself.
Lily looked down to her feet as she shook her head, laughing at her ridiculous sister. They both carried on talking about random things such as school, work and life. They both attempted to sit down, but soon realized that it was a bad idea as the cold and wet pebbles made contact with their jeans. As they bounced back up, they heard cheers in the distance. They looked around as they whistled to their dogs and suddenly realizing that only Drift came back and Lulu was nowhere to be seen.
"Oh crap, where did Lulu go?" Maisie found herself asking as she looked across the beach.
"I think that could be her over with those boys"
"Better go get her I suppose." Maisie nervously chuckled as they started to make their way to the dog who was chasing the group of boys' football around.
