Harry's POV

I walked down the corridors deep in thought.

I never intended on making supper awkward or weird or-

I took a seat in the window of the astronomy tower, gazing out at the starry night sky, exhaling as I let my head rest on the brick wall beside me.

My feet dangled over the ledge as the full moon drowned me in its snow white light.

"Hiding from the world, Harry?"

"I was trying to." I glanced back at Dumbledore, tearing my eyes away from the moon. "Yet you always seem to find me."

He sighed before sitting down next to me, quickly pulling out a burgundy pouch. "Treacle tart?" He pulled out a small pie-looking tart.

"No thanks."

He frowned before taking a bite of it. "..."

"..."

"You can't get mad at Draco and his friends."

"..."

"This is completely out of their control."

"How is it?" I turned to face him. "They're pledging themselves to Voldemort. You can't be forced to do these kind of things."

"Their parents are already affiliated with Voldemort." He took another bite. "It's only natural that they would be forced to join."

"..."

"Draco's Aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange is the dark lord's right hand and his father is just as involved."

"..."

"Can you really hate him for joining?"

"I don't hate Draco."

"Then what's with all the animosity."

"If he were to join and forced to complete some impossible task...where would we go from there?"

"An impossible task, like what?"

"Killing you." I stared at the great wizard as he finished his tart.

He sat there quietly for a moment, gazing at the moon before turning to stare at me.  "What if you had to kill his father?"

"His father is a wicked man-"

"But he's still his father."

"..."

"Would you be okay if he hated you for killing his father?"

"But Dumbledore... you're not my dad-"

"If I died, it would feel like losing a parent."

"..."

"Not to just you...but many others."

"..."

"Voldemort and his followers may or may not mourn for my passing." His gaze returned to the moon. "The same principle would apply if Lucius died."

"..."

"In short, I'm just trying to say...life is inexplicably short."

"..."

"It would be better to enjoy this time of peace where you can love freely......" he hesitated as he closed the burgundy pouch. "Or as they say...tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

"..."

"..."

"What if he's assigned to kill me?"
