He saw him raise his gun and point it at her. Emotions were swirling in him, along with a protective rage. It took him a millisecond to position himself between her and the gun before it fired. He felt a sharp, burning pain in his back as he gazed into her blue, dazzling eyes. He bent down and softly kissed her lips, her lips are soft and sweet, he thought, why did it take me so long to kiss her? It was his last thought before he fell. She stood stunned at his action, and watched with tearful eyes as the love of her life fall with a bullet meant for her. She lifted her gun and shot the other man then kneeled down and tried to apply pressure, but it was too late. He's gone and it's my fault, she thought, it's all my fault! She couldn't believe what just occurred and blamed herself for letting it happen. She watched her opportunity for love and happiness slip from her fingers. Tears streaked her cheeks as she kissed him one last time.
