After lunch the day flew by it seemed. As soon as the bell rang i packed my things, trying to leave this hell hole as soon as possible.
As i stood up i bumped into something, or rather someone.
"oh hi matt..." i paused for a second waiting for answer that i didn't receive, "do you need anything?" i questioned. He was kind of close and it was getting uncomfortable, but he just kept staring at me.
finally he sighed and began to speak "i just wanted to apologize for being an asshole today at lunch. as you might have known i caught my girlfriend, now ex, cheating. i'm not usually such a prick." he leaned back onto the desk beside me as he spoke.
"it's totally fine, i understand that must be hard." i nodded and smiled. he seemed genuinely sorry.
"well, i should have known. this isn't the first time she's pulled some bullshit like this." he looked at the floor while he ran his fingers through his slick hair.
"don't blame it on yourself, it's her fault for taking advantage of such a great guy." shit. why did i say that?
his eyes widened a little before returning to normal size.
"i wouldn't say i'm great but thank you." he chuckled lightly. "say, do you want to walk home with me? everybody kinda already left." he side smiled and leaned back against the desk waiting for a reply.
"sure!" i said a little to excited. he nodded and turned towards the door, with me following, we began our journey home.
"so what made you decide to start public school?" he started, we had been walking in a comfortable silence, before he had asked me this.
"well," i wondered if i should tell him exactly why i was no longer being home schooled. "my mother just can't afford it." it wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the whole truth either.
"oh." he simply stated.
"so where do you live?" i asked, trying to change the conversation.
"not to far from here, maybe about a block or so." he looked at me, quickly looking back when i met his eyes.
i just nodded, not really sure what i else i should say.
"well this is my stop," i paused looking up at my small but some how big home. "i guess i'll see you tomorrow matt!" i waved and gave a small smile, which he returned with out hesitation.
"yeah you too marley!"
