To what bounds?

One week has passed in the cave that Nicky found herself in. With her new humanoid form, she has become much faster; and her hunting has been far more successful than it was in the beginning.

Most of the creatures that the mimic consumed were bats, but she found that the more she consumed, the more she could change involving said creature, and the stronger the form would be. Nicky had eaten multiple humans over the past few days, but she preferred the features from the first human, so she stuck with it.

In the long term, Nicky wanted to eat enough humans and gain enough features that she could look like her original self (before the initial disfigurement). However, in short term, she just wanted out of this cave and into a place more comfortable.

After walking around the cave for a month and eating bats and whatnot, people stopped coming in and Nicky got bored. At this point she started questioning her new life. She was a mimic now, and she could change her form at will.

She didn't find that she had anything in her that really felt human, though she didn't before she was a mimic either. If anything, this formless being felt more right to her than she ever felt before. She felt more free to do whatever she wanted and even though she didn't have means to do anything, Nicky knew she eventually would.

She wandered for ages trying to find an exit, eating anything that seems alive in her path. She noticed that with every plant she ate, she gained its properties for later use - the first one being absorbing sunlight. The mimic wondered if she could expel seeds, but she didn't want to try - yet.

She finally finds a light at the end of a long tunnel of stairs. This must have been the entryway, for it was seemingly blocked off with multiple no entry signs. She couldn't read them, but she assumed that they said such considering the blockage. The light only poured through a small hole, but she easily escaped anyway in the form of a small snake. This form didn't like light, but she used eyes from a human to see clearer.

There was nobody outside, only more signs and such, along with many trees and a path. This seemed nice, and there were no prying eyes to watch her transform back into a human (something she did soon after). Luckily she discovered that she could make clothes from whoever she ate as well, as it was stored in the same place as her memory of everything else.

Nicky waked down a path finding something peculiar - a blue slime. The only thing that she could compare it to was a large and thick water droplet, though its taste was less pleasing than she had hoped.

It was strange how her transformation worked. She couldn't quite describe it. It was a feeling that she had, more than anything else. It was like remembering the taste of what she ate for dinner, she didn't need to remember the whole flavor, only the best or worst parts; and she could isolate the parts she wanted to use and change the measurements of the fur among other things.

Transforming back into a human, Nicky found herself wondering what she could do with her ability. It appeared that she could make each one of her limbs and fingers transform by themselves into whatever forms she had available. For example, she attempted to make each finger turn into the leg of a tarantula that she ate, with much success. She could even just change her skin if she wanted.

She decided to see what other materials she could change, and it seemed she could change her hair to appear easily as Medusa; and better yet, she could see with each pair of eyes that every individual snake head had.

She thought of the slime she swallowed, and turned herself into a transparent mesh before making herself into a thin puddle and roaming around. Where the form was weak, she could use it to hide easily.

She wondered if she could change color.

A few seconds passed as she tried, but to no avail. Her material only changed as she thought of colors that she had. She knew that in time she would be able to fully camouflage as a thin sheet if she obtained enough materials, but for now all she had was her surroundings.

She ate pieces of everything she could imagine: rocks, trees, dirt, sand, clay, and other various plants that she found.

At this point she wondered if she could separate into smaller pieces. She knew she could change size due to the snake, but did it matter if they are connected?

She turned her arm into a branch and her other hand into a sword that she ate from one of the humans. She struck down quickly with the sword and severed the arm/branch. Immediately an intense pain shot up her arm and made her lurch and gag. The piece of wood she cut off could no longer be felt, but she could feel as though a part of herself was missing like a small emptiness.

She transformed into her normal mimic form to see that the tip of one of her fingernails was missing. "Such a small part of me and so much pain." She noticed how dense her body was in comparison to the tree. "I guess that makes sense." She wonders what would happen if...

She eats the branch.

Lo and behold the tip came back and she no longer felt the emptiness. She took note of that and wondered if it worked eating other things.

She repeated the process, and yes, it did.

After a few minutes passed in her mimic form, she realized something was different about her. Her breasts were back, though they were blackened, her nails were longer, and her hair was in many more thin tendrils that were much more plentiful.

She assumed that the more she ate, the more full her body would become. She was just malnourished in the beginning, of course. This was worrisome though, for she was still very hungry. She wondered what part of her body would change next. She didn't want to think of it.

Either way, she changed back into her human form. It seemed much safer anyway. Even though the mimic form was more dense, moving around in it hurt as if she was constantly transforming; which for all she knew that was what was happening.

Suddenly a wave of fatigue came over her. She quickly went to a shady area, turned into a puddle of slime, and slept.
