A thick, purple glowing, black ooze drips from the ceiling of a cave. The same cave as before.
This ooze slowly begins to congest and solidify until it becomes a pearl like orb sized an inch around. Slowly the stone around it begins to be brought in and turns into an even more dense ooze until it begins to pile up around the orb. It tunnels its way further underground creating another branch or path to go down and it absorbs the stone around it.
Months pass and months turn to years as the mass grows. Suddenly it stops and begins to change. It sprouts arms, legs, and thousands upon thousands of fleshy strands taking the place of hair.
A large slit opens up at the front, sprouting a head with a single closed eye and a mouth with 2 rows of teeth and a tongue with plenty more.
The beast sits motionless for months. In time moss surrounds it and the outer layer of its ooze ferments into a leathery skin. The eye opens and it stretches, licking the flap of skin that it has where lips would be. The moss absorbs into the creature like the stone before it.
Though it has no ears, the creature can feel something thumping. Something faint to its left. It slowly turns and sees a small rat. Its eye zones in on the rodent. It can see things that most cannot. Such as the blood pumping through its veins and its lungs bringing it air. It sees every individual hair and feels the air brush through its fur. It can distinguish every individual skin cell among the surface of its being.
The beast crawls closer to it with curiosity. The thumping of its heart feeling louder and deeper as it drifts near. It was annoying, but oddly satisfying. The creature wondered what would happen if it added that beat to itself. It picks up the rat. The rodent struggles within the creatures grasp, squeaking and squealing as it is was placed within the creatures mouth.
*CRUNCH*
The creature feels something foreign, but all too familiar. A transformation.
Everything comes back to the mimic in its new formed body. A feeling of hatred consumes its now beating heart. "They had the nerve to kill ME?" She didn't even know why they had done it. She could only assume that she had said something suspicious; what it was she couldn't begin to guess.
She stretches and attempts to transform into her human form, but nothing happens. "Great, when I die, I lose everything..." She took note that she could talk as a rat and that she didn't die permanently, but this was in the back of her mind right now all she could think of is revenge on that red-haired boy. She knew she hadn't eaten him enough to kill him. He was injured badly, but he would survive; and Nicky hated that. He caused her death, he should have died too, right? Maybe he had died from the stabbing...
And same goes for the other one...Amy. She took her hand in the battle, but that wasn't enough. Just thinking about her features made her black blood boil. She feels something strange as she thinks of her. "Black haired..." her hair gets longer "red lipped..." her face starts to change, "wide eyed... small mouthed... beach ball breasted bitch... thinks she can stab me?!?", she looked down. This was weird, she couldn't see anything except for- "wow!"
She was human again, it seems rage mixed with recollection works toward transformation as well. There were some differences though: her skin was still black as coal, her hands still attached to the fingers with nail-like claws, and her hair was still made of fleshy tendrils though they were a bit smoother and longer now. It was like she was in between her normal form and a human, but she didn't feel the pain of transformation like usual. It felt natural, but it was imperfect.
Nicky clacked her fingers together and against her now singular thumb. She wondered what kind of damage she could do with these claws. They were very sharp after all. She wondered if she could rip out Amy's heart with them. She could only imagine the savory taste of the woman's heart as she clacked her fingers.
But that was for later. Right now she just needed to get back out of this cave. How long was she even in here? Days? Years? Decades? She had no way of knowing. She was on autopilot the entire time she spent developing her body. Thinking about it, she hadn't eaten anything until she noticed that rat. The feeling of eating was so satisfying! She wanted to do it more, but this part of the cave lacked in life. There were barely any plants nearby, let alone animals.
Nicky noticed some fungi nearby and decided that they would have to do. She glomped into the mushrooms and stuffed them into her face. Right now this tasted like the best thing she had ever eaten, and considering she was reincarnated a second time, it wasn't too far off. Again she transformed. She guessed this was going to happen every time she ate something new just like before.
Right now she was a little mushroom creature with an eye, gills, spider like legs, and arms that were much like her original form. Nicky didn't like this phallic shape so she attempted to turn back to her original form, and it didn't work; or at least not in the way she planned to. She was now in her more human-like form, "Is this just what I look like now?"
It wasn't half bad. She had missed having two eyes, and admittedly, she thought she looked kinda sexy with her thick thighs and big breasts. She was kind of her own type on the girl side of things. She wondered if she could crush a watermelon with these legs. But enough of these thoughts. She was a monster now... Romance with a human probably isn't the best idea anyway. At least not at this time.
It felt musty in here and she was still hungry after eating that mushroom. She decides to eat a few more. There was no change this time, as she already had this form's properties within her.
She didn't feel like she had enough, so she ate more.
This is odd, she is still hungry.
She eats more mushrooms.
She craves more.
She wants more.
She n e e d s more.
She searches the cave in corners, small areas, starts licking the mycelium that the mushrooms grow on and swallows it.
It becomes an obsession. A need that she desires for mushrooms.
She sees a bat and quickly swallows it and suddenly the hunger lessens a chunk. Its almost like-She stops to think for a minute as she transforms into the bat. When she was first a mimic, she was ravenous as if she could eat anything and everything. Nothing she ate would fill her enough to even dent the hunger, except for the things that made her transform. However, this time there was no hunger to begin with; only curiosity. It was only when she put the rat in her mouth and swallowed that she began to feel a twinge of satisfaction, and the more mushrooms she ate, the hungrier she became.
She had a hypothesis: What if the reason behind the hunger was eating materials that she already had within? It was like a drawback to eating everything in sight that she wouldn't have realized if she didn't get her consciousness restored to her. If she hadn't thought of this, she may have hunted and eaten everything in her path, and still felt a large hunger like the one before. That would have caused suffering through her entire lifetime.
She took note of it and moved on with her day. She was almost glad that she died the first time, for the hunger wasn't nearly as bad.
