I was right, the date was a disaster, and it was as though everything went downhill as soon as we sat down.
Wesley was adamant that we sit in the middle of the crowded restaurant so that everyone could see us, and completely ignored me after I asked him if we could sit somewhere else since my anxiety was spiking and being in the middle of the busy setting was enough to trigger me. Actually, his exact words to me were "it can't be that big of a deal, just ignore it", and when those words left his lips, I was heartbroken because I finally realized how little he cared about me as my mom's words kept replaying in my mind.
"Good evening, my name is Julia, and I will be your waitress tonight. Can I start you guys off with a drink?" A woman dressed in the all-black uniform asked us kindly, she was very beautiful with bright green eyes, pink lips and blond hair pulled into a neat bun.
"Could I please have-" I started when Wesley cut me off.
"We'll have two glasses of water and a bottle of red wine for the table." He stated, not even looking at Julia, before rudely dismissing her. The staff knew the Greyson family very very well, and they knew not to question or keep anything from them, including distributing alcohol to minors.
"Wesley you can't drink, you're driving," I quietly reminded him, but he just rolled his eyes as he picked up his phone, completely brushing me off.
"You're not my mother Cris, I'll be fine." He sighed and I took a deep breathe. "Now stop looking like someone peed in your cornflakes and smile." He said as he lifted his phone and snapped selfie of us. We both had fake smiles plastered on our faces as we tried to look as in love as possible while the background of the beautiful the restaurant added to the image, he was trying to portray to his 5K followers.
But that beautiful background that was slowly starting to grow louder as the seconds ticked by, my anxiety growing worse with it- it made my skin itchy.
"Here are your drinks." Julia smiled as she placed glasses of ice water on our table along with the bottle of wine and two wine glasses. "Have you guys decided on what you would like to eat yet or would you like a few more minutes?" She asked and yet again Wesley answered for the both of us, this time ordering us steak and eggs, even though I didn't eat red meat.
"Wesley, I don't eat-" I started, trying to correct him but his head shot up before I could even finish my sentence.
"Don't you think I played better than Daniel during last week's football game?" He interrupted me again, finally looking up from his phone and I frowned, I barely remembered the football games between cheering, the loud noises, and keeping my anxiety at bay.
"Sure?" I shrugged and he huffed as he poured himself a glass of wine.
"Well, you should tell that to Coach because he decided to make Daniel captain even though I play better, and I'm way better looking." He complained before gulping down some of his wine and continuing with his monologue of how he was deserving of being captain.
It was during this time that I started to realize how often Wesley talked over me or just flat-out ignored what I had to say, and it was there, in the middle of the restaurant that the realization that Wesley wasn't a good guy, and he definitely didn't deserve me.
Maybe my parents had a point. Wesley didn't treat me right, he never paid attention to anything I said, everything had to be his way, on his terms, and he really didn't seem to care about me past the way I made him look. How the fuck could I have ever been this blind?! Wesley was just a piece of shit- not only it to me but to everyone else as well. I couldn't believe I let everyone and their opinions on how hot and popular he was, convince me that he was actually a decent human being. Holy shit I must've been delirious, he wasn't even good in bed to make up for his shitty-ness.
