The sun was shining right into my face when I woke up the next day. I stretched before checking the time. It was after 7 already. I was glad I had a  flexible work schedule, it just didn't matter if I came half an hour earlier or later in the morning. But today, I wanted to hurry up. Reece wanted to take me out in the evening, and this plan hadn't changed. Therefore, I did my morning routine in a rush. I texted Reece instead of calling, but I knew he'd understand that I wanted to get to work as quick as possible.

I found myself staring at the clock at lot during the day, and every time I calculated how much time was going to pass until I was going to see Reece. I was very happy when I packed up my things to leave work. About an hour until Reece would come get me.

I texted him when I was on my way home knowing he was still on his shift, but I wanted to let him know I was excited.

As soon as I arrived home I hurried to take a shower and get dressed.

I'm ready a few minutes before the time Reece told me, so I just walked through my room, sorting some things until I heard the doorbell ring. I immediately grabbed my keys and ran downstairs, until I could open up the door to see my lovely boyfriend standing outside, leaning against the wall.

"Hi", I called out excitedly, giving him a big smile.

He looked me up and down, winking. "Hey love", he greeted me before kissing me softly. "You look good", he added.

"Thanks", I mumbled and felt my face heat up. I played with the rings on his fingers shyly before he intertwined our fingers and tagged me along to his car.

"Where are we going?", I asked as he drove away from where I lived.

"Well, usually I don't tell you, but I'll make an exception today", he laughed for a moment before continuing. "I heard about a new restaurant on work. It's italian, and Jim said they make better pasta than at Antonio's so I decided we have to see if he's right."

"You bet with him", I said, not even asking anymore.

Reece laughed, and I watched him with admiration. "You caught me."

"Well Antonio's is hard to beat so let's see who's going to win", I responded with a smile.

We kept driving for a while. Once we stopped at a traffic light and I excitedly called out for Reece to look because there was someone with a cute dog, making him chuckle because of my excitement. His hand was resting on my thigh every chance he had.

It took us about twenty minutes to get there, and some more passed while we searched for a parking spot.

We had to cross the street to get to the house with the big sign 'Teresa's Trattoria'. Reece grabbed my hand as we were walking in silence. He opened up the door for me as we walked in.

A waiter greeted up friendly. Reece said he had a table reservation, and a few moments later we sat at a table next to a window. He started studying the menu immediately while I looked around a bit more. It was a nice building, wooden ceiling and wooden floor, lots of warm and inviting colour. They had lots of pictures hanging up, most of landscape. I quickly found myself getting lost in those over Reece's head. Most of them must've been taken in Italy, and showed off the beautiful country, with mountains and the mediterranean sea.

I got interrupted in my thoughts when Reece softly called out my name. I looked at him questioningly.

"As much as I like that dreamy look on your face, aren't you hungry?", he asked.

"Oh I am hungry, but I just got lost", I answered with a little laugh before opening up the menu. I read over the different kind of pastas before trying to decide which one I wanted. "Which one are you trying?", I asked Reece.

He shrugged. "Probably Pasta Puttanesca. If I don't eat what I'd eat at Antonio's, how am I supposed to get a good comparison?"

"That's true", I admitted. "Then it's gonna be lasagna for me", I added.

"We never try anything new", Reece chuckled. "If they're good we can come back and try something new."

"Yeah. We should do that. Or we eat something new at Antonio's next time."

"May I ask if you've chosen yet?", another friendly voice interrupted us. We looked up to see a woman smile at us.

"Yeah", Reece said. "I'll just have a water, and Pasta Puttanesca."

She nodded and noted something down before looking at me with a friendly smile.

"Just water too, and Lasagna. Thank you", I told her, smiling back. I felt Reece grabbing my hand over the table as she nodded before walking away. I sent him a questioning look to which he replied with an innocent smile.

"Are you holding my hand because you're jealous of a waitress?", I asked jokingly.

He pulled a face. "You're allowed to smile at whoever, because it's friendly, but I can show you off as mine whenever I want."

"You're an idiot", I said softly, interlocking our fingers.

We just sat like this, going with a light conversation, until our food arrived. We didn't have to wait very long, which was amazing because I was actually so hungry.

And it was true, it tasted like made from heaven. Reece and I couldn't believe it. I tried from his food, and he tried from mine, and both our dishes were great. And it wasn't an expensive restaurant at all.

Therefore, Reece and I were both very happy when we had finished eating and left the restaurant.

"I feel so full", I said, laughing.

"Same. Let's walk a bit before we drive back", Reece proposed.

We just walked down the street. It was kind of dark outside already as it was autumn, but the streetlights illuminated our way.

It was such a comfortable feeling, just walking, holding Reece's hand. None of us said a word, but there was nothing that would've fit the atmosphere. It was perfect like it was.

It felt like so much time had passed when we decided to turn around to get back to the car. When we were there I waited for Reece to open it up but instead he pulled me closer, and leaned in for a kiss. We stood like that for a while, just kissing next to his car until he broke away, the streetlights reflecting in his eyes like sparkles.

"I really love you. I'm so happy I got you", he whispered before kissing me another time. I sighed into the kiss when I felt his hands on my waist, pulling me even closer. When we broke away from each other, we both breathed in sharply, making both of us grin.

"You look beautiful right now", I mumbled. "And I love you too. A lot."

"Beautiful", he scoffed. "You should see yourself right now."

"Shut up", I said softly and bury my fingers in his hair to mess with it. "I was complimenting you."

We kissed a third time, and after this he finally stepped away from me. "Let's drive back. I can still invite you to my place, I hope."

"Obviously", I responded. "What'd you think?"

"Well, who knows?", he gave back while walking around the car to his side and got in. "Maybe you wanted to go home."

"You should know I'd always choose to stay with you", I whispered, looking at Reece's side profile as he started the car.

He kept staring straight ahead when he answered.
"And that's the best thing for you to do."
