By the third Thermodynamics lecture, Sophia started to sit in the front row under the guise that she kept forgetting her glasses so she couldn't read the board. Thankfully Cassidy bought this excuse and sat up there with her.
There were three problems with this plan.
Problem 1: Cassidy kept being obnoxiously disruptive during lecture.
Problem 2: everytime Cassidy did this, Dr. Aeries would glare at Sophia and Cassidy.
Problem 3: whenever Dr. Aeries would glare at her, Sophia's liked it way too much. His dark, angry eyes made Sophia feel controlled by him in a deep emotional way.The result of all of this was that Sophia was a hot mess the entire lecture. She took notes without even focusing on what she was writing down. By the time Dr. Aeries ended his speech, Sophia was flushed, shaky, and exhilarated.
"Let's go get a bubble tea and come back here to work on that group assignment," Cassidy told Sophia.
"Ok, yeah," Sophia agreed without taking here eyes from Dr. Aeries as he exited the hall.
"Who are you staring at?" Cassidy winked.
Sophia blushed but didn't respond.
......
Later that night after many hours in the computer lab working on a group project, Sophia needed a break.
"Hey guys," she announced "see you in a few. I gotta take a walk - my head hurts from this equation."
Sophia sighed with contentment when she saw the halls of the engineering building were mostly empty. Out the windows Sophia saw that it was getting late, but in here it felt safe. Sophia wandered slowly through the halls looking at last year's senior projects posted on the walls.
She wasn't paying attention to where she was going and she collided right into somebody so hard that she fell to the ground....
