namjoon was sat quietly on a bench outside of school waiting for his girlfriend to come pick him up. he only wore a thin jacket, not expecting for the years first snowfall to happen in early november.

classes had ended about an hour ago, she was running late.

namjoon understood though, sometimes her job kept her late.

so here he was, hands stuffed in his pockets, his nose and ears a bright red, and his thin sneakers being soaked through by snow, effectively freezing his feet.

he tried to warm himself by swinging his legs back and forth, but that didn't really help.

she finally showed up a half an hour later.

"get in, namjoon." she spoke through the slightly cracked window. he smiled at her when he was inside the warm car. "how was work, yeri?" he heard her grumble under her breath.

he forgot he wasn't supposed to ask that question.

"do i have to remind you again?" she snapped, voice lowering down an octave or two. he apologized immediately.

he got no response, leaving the pair to ride the rest of the ride home in silence, the only sound being namjoon's occasional sniffles and coughs.

once they arrived at their shared apartment, namjoon offered to carry yeri's purse up the stairs, yet feeling crushed when he got rejected because he 'breaks everything he touches'

so he trudged up the many flights of stairs, slowly making his way to his door.

once inside, he saw yeri getting all dressed up.

"where you heading?" he asked, little confidence in his voice.

"out. don't wait up for me." she made her way to the door.

"alright, i love you."

"i told you not to say that anymore, namjoon."

"i'm sorry.."

and all he got is a door slam in response.
