she was gone when he woke up, but that was normal.
namjoon's alarm had just gone off, groggily glancing at the device before stretching and sitting up. his first class was in an hour, so he hurried to get ready, throwing on an extra-large hoodie he found and some sweatpants with a winter jacket he found in the closet, he was not about to make the same mistake as last time. he made his way out of the building, grabbing his bike and making his way to university.
by the time he reached his destination, he was already five minutes late. he parked his bike, not bothering to chain it, and ran into class.
he bowed in apology at the professor, who nodded his head in acceptance, allowing namjoon to make his way to his seat.
namjoon took notes like the good student he was while trying to ignore the couple making out next to him. he glanced in their direction, it was park jimin and some girl he knew he had seen before. he tried his best to tune them out for the rest of the class.
soon his classes were over, namjoon walking out to where he parked his bike, only to realize that it wasn't there anymore. he grumbled under his breath, kicking a rock he saw on the pavement. he had no way to contact yeri, so that meant he was walking home again.
it was an hour and a half walk.
about fifteen minutes later, a nice truck pulled up next to him. the window rolled down revealing the man he had seen earlier in his lecture.
"you need a ride?" jimin smiled at him.
mamjoon panicked "um no thanks, it's too much of a hassle."
"you sure? where ya headed?"
"other side of town."
"me too, hop in."
he sighed, opening the truck door and climbing into the passenger seat. the car smelled of oak and cigarettes, a scent that gave the boy a sense of comfort. he buckled his seatbelt, ignoring the stare he was getting from the other man.
"why were you walking? it's below freezing."
he turned to look at jimin, "my bike got stolen and i don't have a car."
"i'll give you rides from now on." he stated, leaving no room for namjoon to argue.
the rest of the ride was quiet between them, the occasional direction from namjoon breaking it. once they pulled up, namjoon smiled and thanked jimin. "you didn't have to do that, you know?"
"i know, i wasn't just gonna let you walk."
"thank you, i'll see you tomorrow?" he got a nod in response, waving at him before walking into the entryway of his apartment.
jimin rolled up his window, thinking to himself.
'i didn't know he lived in the same building as yeri.'
