Delivered.
Air fills my anxious lungs as I inhale and slide my yellow iPhone XR to the edge of my wooden desk, face down. Be patient, don't check it. Let it buzz on its own, I tell myself. But every minute feels like an hour as I wait for him to see what I sent. I lie to myself because not even five minutes later, I find my hand reach for my phone and unlock it. I stare down at the little red arrow. Delivered but not opened.
I start to think back to how our relationship has shifted drastically over the past five years...
