Twisting and turning on his futon, Wei Ying couldn't get an ounce of sleep. It's been two days since the day he met Lan Wang Ji and the boy has been on his mind ever since he informed him about the ability to sense spirits. Wei Ying couldn't hide his anticipation to meet him again.
Whilst rolling to the other side of the bed, Wei Ying let out a gasp.
There was that little boy again. Ever since he vanished from the backyard, he never appeared. Wei Ying really wanted to believe that the boy was satisfied enough to move on, but he knew that was not how it worked. They spirit of the descents did not move on to the afterlife until their wish is fulfilled. The cause of the spirit roaming the world is usually of a grudge against someone or a desperate wish that they want to accomplish. Their request of things ranges from as something simple as planting a flower near their graves to the death of a certain person. The little child that stood in front of Wei Ying, hiding behind the curtains also had a difficult request for Wei Ying to accomplish. The little child wanted nothing but for Wei Ying to reveal the truth, however he would not tell him the whole story until he enters the old man's house and into his backyard; what was his name again? Oh, right Big sis referred to him as uncle Chu-Ying.
"Please let me get a couple of hours of sleep before sunrise." Wei Ying begged, placing the pillow on top of his head. Whenever a spirit was present the temperature in the surrounding atmosphere around him dropped to approximately 5-8 degrees.
"Even if I want to go back, I probably can't go near that alley for another week! People will recognise me and chase me down!" Wei Ying tried to be reasonable with the spirit of the young boy.
The spirit boy didn't budge or even respond to Wei Ying, he simply stood and stared at Wei Ying. There are nights that were sleepless because of the presences of the spirits staring into Wei Ying's soul, and Wei Ying knew tonight was one of those nights.

After dinner the following day, Wei Ying awaited until everyone had returned to their duties or chambers and he sneaked out of the palace into the narrow alley to the middle of the village. Although it isn't such a great idea to leave, especially since he's supposed to be grounded he knew he won't have an ounce of sleep if he didn't work on this kid's case. He could only hope for a miracle to help him before he sinks into deeper trouble.
Usually after dinner hours, the residents remain in their house and only so little leave after that. He took the shortcuts and the less crowded allies. Once he arrived, he checked that there was no one around and started to stack wooded round basket found on the street on top of each other until it was high enough for him to use it to jump over the wall. Once he was done, he pulled his robe above his knees and supported his weight with his left hand as he tried to climb on the wooden baskets. However, shortly after; the basket located in the middle of the stack, jiggled and risked Wei Ying's life and increased his chance of falling and exposing himself. Since he couldn't place much of his weight on his right wrist, he took a deep breath before slowly trying to use his right hand to balance himself, yet only to slightly slip and tilt to his right, grasping and preparing himself for a hard fall onto the ground.
Yet two hands find their way around Wei Ying's waist and held him in place, as they slowly guided him down onto the stable ground and closer to body to maintain balance.
"I-I...didn't –" Wei Ying tried to respond to the situation only to find a finger in front of his lips, gesturing him to keep quiet.
Wei Ying's eyes bludged in surprise.
"H-hey!"
Honestly, if there was one big change that has occurred in Wei Ying's life since the meeting of this Gusu Lan sect boy, is probably him stuttering at every meeting between them.
