Fridays at Cafe Mio were always hectic. Everyone uses the fact that it's Friday to stop off at the cafe and treat themselves to a hearty breakfast or lunch. The sound of kettles boiling, oil sizzling, biscuits crunching, and coffee being sipped is what engulfs the room in the small cafe located on Coppice avenue. The village of Buckingham was small and old - old to the point where there were no street lights; Not because the village wasn't advanced enough, but simply because the residents loved looking up at the stars without any light pollution. There was a post office, a pub, a grocery store and butchers, and a few other stores dotted around the small avenue to keep a few thousand people content and happy.Elena re-tied her now brown apron around her waist, marks of coffee smudged around it from where she's rushed with coffee granules and wiped her hands down her apron. "Elena, this lady would like a pot of tea for two and for her croissants to be warmed up." Sharon, Elena's boss hummed as she smiled at the customer before her. "Coming right up!" Elena had olive skin with natural brunette hair tied up in a messy ponytail, strands of hair falling against her face as she stuck her lip out in concentration as she prepared everything for the order. It was around 3 in the afternoon, lunchtime rush was now over but the cafe was still filled with people from all walks of life. The interior was homely; a large mahogany bookshelf sat at the rear wall with vintage armchairs either side, and there was a large fireplace in the centre of the cafe which was a freeforall to sit in front of during the winter months. Cafe Mio felt like home to everyone who went; except for Elena.
"What. A. Day." Elena huffed, flopping down onto the sofa after cleaning up for the day. "Got any plans for tonight?" An elder lady called Pam smiled as she packed away the cutlery, causing a laugh from Sharon to erupt behind her. "Oh come on Pam, you know Elena doesn't 'go out'" she said sarcastically as she did the air quote fingers. Elena rolled her eyes with a groan. "Sharon!" she wined. "I do go out, just... not often!" Elena took off her apron and put it in the washing machine in the back room, wiping her hair back along with a thin layer of sweat that sat at her forehead. "Well, what are you doing tonight then?" Sharon and Pam teased as they poked their head through the back door, staring Elena down with a smirk. "Well.." Elena whispered. "I'm... I'm going out to dinner!" she roared, a little too loud, before facepalming and grabbing her bag, ready to leave the torment.
"Ah! Sure you are honey, I'll believe it when I see it." Sharon gave Elena and Pam a hug goodbye as they locked up the Cafe. "Elena sweetheart, life is short. Please go out and enjoy everything life has to offer." Pam whispered to Elena. "Have a good weekend!" She waved Elena goodbye before jumping in her taxi. Elena sighed, biting her bottom lip as she looked at her reflection in the cafe window. "You know what? Screw it. I'm going out tonight."
