"Don't worry, Neve." Alice cooed at the small girl. "I'll be back just before you know it."
It had been the first day of school and Alice had to leave her little wolf back at home to go to school with her brothers and sister. Neve understood what school was but never sought to go to them, she was smart enough to survive in the wild, she was a wolf after all.
As Neve watched Alice's car drove off on the road, she turned around and walked to Esme who was reading a book on the couch.
The wolf girl jumped on the bed and gently pawed her cheek to get the motherly vampire's attention.
"Hello, Neve." She smiled lovingly at the girl whose ears and tail started to show. "Do you need something, dear?"
Neve pointed outside, a small whimper showing up from her throat. Esme raised a brow, lowering her book on the table before looking straight at the direction of the girl's pointed finger.
"Huh?" Esme was confused, seeing only a window. "What's wrong, Neve?"
"I want to go outside." She replied with bright icy blue eyes. "Will you let me, Esme?"
Esme let out a soft giggle, Neve still acted like a wolf sometimes, but a very patient and respectful wolf.
"Of course, dear." She responded, standing up from the couch. "Let me just grab my shoes and we'll be off then."---
Esme watched with careful eyes as she watched Neve jumped from rock to rock in her tiny wolf form. She had to admit, the wolf girl looked like an adorable puppy, being nearly the size of a fox.
"Be careful, pup." Esme called out to Neve , who was getting close to the barrier of their land.
But it was too late, Alaska leaped into the shifters' land and several howls were heard across the forest.
Esme felt her throat hitched as three wolves emerged from the woods, one being black and obviously Sam, the Alpha. Knowing she couldn't pass the line, she helplessly watched as Sam grabbed Alaska and carried her away, only the loud whimpers of Neve go by.
---
Neve scanned through the pack with her bright blue eyes as she sat on the ground, some were growling at her while the rest seemed to be curious in her.The black wolf, which she assumed was their Alpha, phased back into a human and smiled brightly at the white wolf. As the shifter got close to her and knelt down to meet her eyes, Neve did not growl as she too was curious in them.
"Hey, little wolf." The shifter whispered to her. " You must be a shifter like us, right?"
Finding it to be the right time to phase, she stood up and tilted her head in confusion.
"A female shifter?" The Alpha asked, his eyes widening in shock. "There hasn't be one in ages since the last.."
"My name is Neve." The said girl spoke in a whisper. "I am the renown snow guardian of the winter forest."
The Alpha then growled at his pack and knelt down in front of her, the others kneeling down as well.
"We welcome you, honoree winter guardian." He exclaimed with a bow of his head. "My pack and I were assigned from the beginning to protect you, honoree winter guardian."
Neve had heard of someone meaning to risk their life to protect her, she laid her hand on the Alpha's head and rubbed.
"What is your name?" She asked, her voice was still very soft and tiny. The Alpha standing up and seeming to salute the young girl.
