After helping Guzma get his buzz down he finally spoke like the Guzma I actually knew. I never want to meet the other him again, never.
"So uhh, what we gonna do?" He asked when we walked other to the Pokémon Center.
"We both are going to do some money," I told him while we walked into the Nurse Joy's domain. While walking I noticed Guzma heavy steps not syncing with mine and I looked behind me to see he hasn't entered the Center yet. "Um hello? Don't you want to grab your Pokémon?" I inquired pointing at the joyful Nurse Joy.
He scratched his nape nervously and cowered in, keeping his face low like some felon. I rolled my eyes and cheerfully acknowledged Nurse Joy. "Hello, ma'am! Is there anything I can help you with?" She asked with the cutest smile I've seen today. Nurse Joy is the purest human being I've ever met. Even with my cursed title as "forever banned child" she didn't care, and I loved her for that.
"Oh, I'm okay! Just here to grab some of my Pokémon!" I chirped aiming for the drop-off.
When Guzma tiptoed into my shadow he was oozing anxiety from his posture and that puzzled me. For being a big bad wolf he sure is very timid today.
Grabbing a hold of the ATM for Pokémon I only pulled out two of them. I left Swampert back at the daycare center since he's been sick lately and that scared me. Normally I don't push him, but lately, I've been quite greedy for some of that dough. I feel so sorry for him, acting selfishly and all.
When it comes to money I can't think straight sometimes.
I put Machamps and Incenaroars balls inside my bag and saw Guzma put his inside the khaki shorts he wore. He changed his shirt because he ended getting vomit on it for drinking as much as he did. Which reminded me, "why were you so worked up back there?" I asked him. Fixing his hair he simply ignored me. I asked again and he groaned.
"It's not that big of a deal okay? Get over it," he huffed. "We going "money searching" remember? Not some "let's get to know each other searching okay"?" He spat angrily. My face wrinkled not amused by his retort. Is this how he acts when he's coming down from his buzz? Some big grumpy baby?
I can't believe how hard I'm working so the piece of shit can keep a roof over his head! The fact he still treats me like that urges me to hurt myself! Does he still think that he's the only one suffering right now?! I stopped my pace and bit my tongue. Honestly, I really wanted everything to turn out fine. Have all our problems leave behind us and start a new beginning, not let it suck the life out of us like back then. I've seen what my lowest could be, and I hated it. I just wanted all of it to stop, to not re-enter my life, but I can't let someone bring that pain back, especially that being the big bad Guzma. "Listen Guzma. I know things between us have been not the best, " I started. Twirling my fingers against the strap of the bag I couldn't look him in the eye. Not into those small iron orbs he has. "But, I want you to know that I'm trying my damn hardest to put my personal feelings aside to help you. And you're making it extremely difficult-" I stopped when he put his giant hand on my head. Peering up I can see the small smile on his pale features.
"As I said, it's not that big of a deal," he let go and headed forward. "But, it's good to know how ya really feel about your boy," he blew a raspberry at me and my eyes went heavenward. Bastard knows how to make me squirm under his touch. A little too much.
Then, he stopped again. He poked his head in my direction his face in disdain. "I'll tell you later. . ."
^^^^^^^^^^
"For two please," I told the brunette and she smiled.
"Okay! That'll be 2,400 Pokédollars!" I almost groaned at the sheer amount of money I had to give when I gave it to her. She then took us to the Buffet Battling floor before telling us the rules. They weren't too bad and I had a feeling Guzma was barely paying attention. "Have a nice date you two!" She giggled waving us goodbye.
I scoffed at her compliment and heard Guzma chuckle. "Wow, ya hear that? She thinks I'm dating ya," he puffed out his cheeks inside his hand and frantically looked around the place. Before I could ask, "what was that face?" he ran away from me and I followed him. I found him hurling inside a bucket and a big grin curled on my lips.
"Is the thought of dating me that horrendous?" I joked while he spat out his guts.
Wiping his lips he brought himself back from the dead. "I feel like shit," he groaned. "I don't think I can do this [Y/N]," he said sitting down on the bench near the row of food. His eyes peered at it but whipped his head the other way disturbed written in his eyes.
"Are you kidding me?!" I yelled at him. He apologized, and that was unnatural of him, but I spent 1,200 Pokédollars on him, he can't back out now! "Guzma, if you want to sleep on a cozy bed you have to work for it," I told him. "I'm not going to be your mom anymore, okay? There is only so much I can do," I muttered as I got closer. His head rolled back and his eyes pinched in pain.
"I guess since ya put it like that, I've been a pain in the ass, huh?" He dryly laughed, and I sucked on my lips not wanting to agree or disagree. But, I really wanted to agree. "[Y/N], I may not show it but I'm really grateful I met ya- you," he said getting out of his seat. "Sometimes I get too ahead of myself and act like an idiot, getting into trouble often," he pushed his hair out of his face and gleamed at me with the best of his ability since he still had that margarita in his system. "And I find myself right at your doorstep. Heh, it's funny how that stuff happens ya know?" I was speechless when he continued smiling sadly at me. I wasn't sure if it was the hangover or he was being 100% honest with me, but honestly, it was a nice feeling. I really didn't mind this side of him at all.
Wait, what did he mean by funny? Like, fate funny? Or coincidental funny?
We didn't exchange words after that and I saw everyone else battling for some grub. I sighed defeated and said, "fine. I'll do this, but only this once. I hate being the one carrying this relationship," his cheeks got violently red and I internally smacked myself for saying it like that. "A "Friend" relationship. Were nothing more than that," he cooled down after that.
"Thank Arceus! I thought ya actually dig me for a minute there!" He let out with too much happiness. I kept silent as he beamed at me. Turns out he was waiting for one of my snarky answers but I genuinely didn't have any. "Well, I'm gonna dip. So see ya when ya get home!" He yelled when he left me down the stairs to enjoy this Battle Buffet alone.
