Chapter One part Two: He knew it all

Thirty miles from Deva, he sat. He was a pathetic man. He knew where she went. Where she was. He undoubtedly knew what she thought, what she dreamed of. He knew of what she wished she had, and he knew of the life she had now. He knew it all, even though he'd told her to live her life, and that he'd live his. Even though he claimed what he was doing was for his own protection.

In his hand was a cream colored envelope, a scarlet stamp sealing it. The stamp looked like a family seal, one he'd seen countless times before. A feline eye, thorns surrounding it. I'm watching, waiting for the chance to strike, it said to him. He tore off the seal without much care of it. He had plenty of those in his trash can already. Inside, there was a folded paper, the words, You have been cordially invited to this year's Winter Solstice Party.

The invitation confused him. Since when did they care for Winter Solstices? Thought in mind, he opened the note and read the rest.

Guests who are invited are allowed to bring one other guest and must dress in formal wear. This party is for anyone and everyone. Don't forget to enjoy yourself and have a good time.

There was the address to where the party took place, no doubt a fancy hotel resort. But that wasn't what caught his attention when he skimmed over the words of the invite. At the very bottom of it, in small but bold letters it said,

It's been too long, hasn't it? I know you'll probably not go but... what if I told you

she would be there?

Julian stared, his hands tight around the hard, cream colored parchment. At that moment, arms wrapped around his neck, and warm breath brushed against his ear. "Hey, hon, watcha looking at?" Her voice was low and husky, the lust in it not held back. He showed the not to her, careful to cover the bottom line with his thumb. She giggled, and Julian relaxed.

"It says you can bring a guest of your own. Can I ask who this is?" Her head leaned against his, the pressure in her voice sugar coated.

"You, of course," Julian replied in a sultry tone, matching that of what many girls believed a "sexy" voice.

"Aww," she crooned, leaning over her shoulder and looking at him. Julian turned his face around to see her, already knowing what she had planned in mind.

Her lips pressed to his.

The monster within roared.
