The girls were at a café, having their brunch. Music were being played, and beautiful art works framed on the wall. There weren't many people in the café but it was loud because of the chattering among the girls. Y/N took a sip of her hot chocolate, reminiscing her of her and her friends back in USA. She dearly missed her three friends, who always followed her around.
Jeongyeon realised that Y/N has been staring into space for quite some time so Jeongyeon decided to snap Y/N's thoughts, "By the way Y/N, this café is so cool! I've never stepped into one before."
Y/N came back into her senses and smiled. "Jeong, didn't you just.. went to a café with me last week? We just literally went last week. LAST WEEK." Chaeyoung slapped her forehead.
Jeongyeon realised what she had said and scratched her nape, awkwardly chuckling after being laughed at by the girls.
"After you're done, we will proceed to some cultural places that Dahyun and Chaeyoung wanted to explore, okay?" The girls except the duo, groaned not wanting to go such boring places.
"Hey, let's at least spend time knowing its history and cultural behind Singapore. It's not wrong to learn right?" Y/N said, persuading the girls who wanted fun. Dahyun and Chaeyoung laughed at the sulking girls.
Y/N shook her head and then brought them to their first destination, Chinatown.
Featuring distinctly Chinese cultural elements, Chinatown has had a historically concentrated ethnic Chinese population. Chinatown in Singapore is a sharp contrast to the rest of the city, with low rise buildings and culture bursting out onto the streets, from the fragrant smells of traditional cuisine to the bold red and gold tones that run through the neighbourhood. This is an area that’s proud of its heritage and has it very much on display. There are ornate Chinese, Buddhist and Hindu temples, museums galore and plenty of opportunities to soak up the bustling streets lined with old shophouses.
Singapore’s Chinatown is a hub for all things Chinese, and this extends to the shops and malls that you will find in the area. Most things here are made in China, whether you're looking for traditional items, imported toys, or even rare antiques. The favourite spot to shop in Singapore Chinatown are the colourful markets that line the lanes near Chinatown MRT. The malls are also fun to explore, shops here tend to offer great value Chinese items. Also, where there’s shopping, there’s food, so you won’t be short of snacks and along with plenty of places to rest if the bags get too heavy. One of the places that we can go in Chinatown is the Chinatown Street Market. You can go on a walking tour of the shops and stalls on these streets – Pagoda Street, Trengganu Street, Sago Lane, Smith Street and Temple Street. These busy streets encapsulate all the sights and sounds that visitors expect of Chinatown, with hundreds of stalls selling everything from silk robes to lucky cats. There’s also a fantastic range of street food carts amongst the shopping, with fresh dim sum and crispy duck.
"Y/N, look! Does this look pretty on me?" Dahyun put on the traditional weaved hat found in a shop that they were at.
Y/N hummed in response, "You don't need to put on a hat to define your beauty, Dahyun. Just be yourself because you're already pretty to me," Y/N said while roaming around with the girls in the shop.
The girls cooed at her answer, leaving Dahyun a little blushed at that unexpected answer.
"Yo you're gonna get all of us fall for your charms soon, Y/N!!" Chaeyoung playfully choked Y/N.
Y/N wriggled her eyebrows, "Unnie I know right? Girls be falling me and they can't escape me," Y/N smirked and laughed at the cub who kept punching her due to the cringe.
They then went to their second destination, Little India. It is located near Chinatown, thus making it easier to go to Little India from Chinatown. Little India is commonly known as Tekka in the Indian Singaporean community. Places like Sri Veeramakaliamman, the House of Tan Teng Niah and Mustafa Centre are famous tourist site-to-visit in Singapore.
Sri Veeramakaliamman is one of the prettiest and busiest temples in Little India. Located on Sarangoon Road, this 19th-century Hindu temple dates all the way back to the 19th century, with facilities such as a wedding and multipurpose hall. With hundreds of tiny colourful statues blanketing the exterior temple structure, Sri Veeramakaliamman is quite a popular photography spot. Inside is just as impressive but, do expect a large crowds paying their respects on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The entrance is free, but dress respectfully and take your shoes off before stepping inside the temple.
The House of Tan Teng Niah is a colourful 2-storey villa dating back to 1900. It is located at Kerbau Roada and it is one of few remaining Chinese structures in Little India that were built during the colonialization of Singapore. The local community is responsible for the rainbow of colours that the House of Tan Teng Niah is so famous for, as well as its renovation and upkeep.
Mustafa Centre is a 24-hour shopping mall that offers designer products at low prices. Shopping at this mall is akin to shopping at an indoor market, narrow aisles jam-packed with all manner of products. At the entrance, you are not encouraged to bring big bag in the mall and might need to leave it at the security deposit where the security in charge of the day will help to take care of your belongings. This is so because to prevent locals or tourists from stealing anything from the shop due to its past records and cases in Singapore. Also, it's very packed almost everyday, but if you come in search of a specific item you can’t find anywhere else in town, you might just find an entire aisle dedicated to it at Mustafa Centre.
"Oh my god Y/N! There's so many foods here! Chocolates?! Jellies?! Even strawberries here?!?!" Nayeon exhilarated, running to various categories mentioned.
Chaeyoung knocked Nayeon's head, "YAH that was supposed to be my line unnie!"
The girls laughed as Chaeyoung took few bags of strawberries into the basket. They were so loud that Y/N literally had to calm their energetic and hype soul. After buying whatever they wanted to buy, Y/N and the girls walked to Kampung Glam.
Kampung Glam is an area for the Muslim activities, and the Muslim population still remains a significant presence in Kampong Glam, especially in Bussorah Street. It is also an area of good restaurants, from Malaysian coffee shops and bakeries to fine modern European dining, like Le Pont De Vie. Famed more for its quaint and quirky collection of boutique shops, Haji Lane has become a favourite hangout for all of Singapore’s cool kids, while also attracting a good helping of visitors who venture this way.
Suddenly, I received a call from my uncle and picked it up in the amidst of the girls taking pictures.
"Yes, Uncle? Oh, really? Alright, I will tell the girls about it. Okay, thank you Uncle."
I ended the call, making my way towards the girls who were having selcas. We were exhausted so we made our way back home and rested.
I gathered the girls at the living room as we were having pyjamas party. We bought matching pyjamas, as I matched with Chaeyoung in dark red cherry pyjamas. Chaeyoung was the eager one, wanting to wear matching pyjamas leaving the rest to choose their own partner.
SaTzu wore light blue, NaMo wore bright pink, Jeonghyo wore dark purple and Mihyun wore light green pyjamas.
We ate pizzas, drank fizzy drinks as we spent time getting to know each other. I relayed the message from JYP to the girls and they nodded. We decided to go back to Korea tomorrow morning after I booked the flights. We spent our last night, as we drained our energy through dancing and singing to karaoke songs.
