-that is, until the real Caleb storms into my room screaming.

"Wake up, Christina! Wake up!!!"

I groan. 'What do you want," I mumble, trying- and failing- to wake myself up.

"It's time to show you the city." By the way Caleb said this, I couldn't imagine this was a good thing. I nodded and got up out of bed.

I dressed in a shirt that matched my eyes and a pair of skinny jeans. Barely managing to wake myself up, I trudge into Caleb's room. He's still wearing his pajamas, but he doesn't even say anything, just nods and leads me out the door.

"Now don't be too shocked when you see the city. Don't yell at me for what I'm about to tell you."

I nod, but I have no idea what I'm agreeing to. If I had known what he meant, I would've never went to town with him.

As we walked to town, the journey looked average; bare nothingness. But when we reached town is when it got interesting.

"Welcome to the Big Apple."

I have no idea what the 'Big Apple' is, but I know that it couldn't have always been like this. Buildings go about three feet high, and then, a ceiling is ripped off, and all that remains is a huge pile of rubble. Small fires burn everywhere, and it's obvious nobody has been here for a long time.

"What- what is this place?" I say in awe.

"What used to be one of the biggest cities in the world, is now a pile of rubble."

My mouth opens, but I don't want to face the reality. Every single person who once lived in this huge city is now dead.

"What happened? What destroyed a whole town?"

"It's not just a town. It's the whole world."

He pauses awkwardly, then concludes, "And it's all our fault."

"What?"

"Well... You know how you fell asleep for about two thousand years?"

"No, Caleb, I friking forgot," I say sarcastically.

He ignores my remark. "Um... It was kind of our job to protect everyone... Without you, we failed. Miserably."

So, it was my fault? My fault the whole world died? It couldn't be; it's not my fault I went into a coma!

"If you have your powers, how did you let this happen?"

Tears well in his eyes. "We were stupid, okay? Just stupid little kids."

I don't say anything; he's obviously upset about a tender subject.

"Caleb?" I say finally. "Can you- can you tell me how I fell asleep?"

He looks up, almost ready to tell me, but then he shakes his head. "No, it will only hurt you. You won't trust her."

"Won't trust who?"

"If you want to fix this-" he gestures towards the city- "then you should stop asking so many questions."

I nod, and look back to the destroyed city. I try to ignore it, but the question roars in my mind:

What happened to me?
