I suddenly shot up in bed screaming and really sweaty, looking around the room not knowing where I was. Once I realized I was in my room and it was just a nightmare, I started to calm down. I started to control my breathing to stop my heart from beating out of my chest. Why does this happen every night?

All of the sudden my door was thrown open and Samuel, my best friend and roommate, came running up to my bed panting.

"Oh my God, Addison are you okay?" He turned to my bedside and turned on my lamp, looking back at me he cupped my cheeks in his hands. "Addie, are you okay?"

I opened my mouth to say yes, I didn't want him to worry even though this happens every night, but I couldn't. I just broke down in sobs clinging to him. I heard him sigh and get into the bed with me. He held me as I cried and ran his fingers through my hair, knowing that would comfort me. It felt like I cried for years. I was all cried out tonight. I was so thankful for him in that moment, I couldn't go through this all alone.

I heard Sam take a long breath before speaking again, "Addie, you have to go talk to someone. This isn't healthy and we both know it. You're not getting any sleep and when you do, you wake up screaming and crying. You have to work through this."

I wanted to roll my eyes, but I didn't want to make him mad. "Sammy, I don't need to talk to anybody. I don't want anyone to know, it's so embarrassing. I don't need anyone else but you to help me."

"Love, this happens too often. People have gone through what you did and there's people to help you. You just need to talk and get it out. I'm happy to come in here every night and hold you, you know that. But I don't think your future husband is gonna like that very much." He joked.

I laughed and held him tighter. "Well he will just have to deal with it because I never plan on letting you go. I hope your future wife is okay with that Sammy. She can't just steal you away from me." I joked back.

He chuckled, which made my body move, making me chuckle. "I'm never leaving you Addie; you don't have to worry about that."

He turned over to turn the lamp off and laid back down, still holding me.

"Sweet dreams Addie."

"Sweet dreams Sammy."
